development, standard setting and regulation enforcement, provision of technical assistance, capability-
building and augmentation support to local government units (LGUs), non-government (NGOs), and
people’s organizations (POs).

The DSWD commits to continue it leadership role in social welfare and social development in the New
Millennium

Vision: Poverty eradication and empowerments of disadvantage individuals, families and communities
with capability to improve their quality of life through the provision of assistance to LGUs, NGOs, POs,
other national government agencies (NGAs) and other member of civil society.
