BALLET

Is a theatrical dance


that combines danse
d’ecole dance
technique, music,
costume and stage
scenery.
It started in Italy
during Renaissance
period.
It was first used
as a form of royal
entertainment.
The French court
during the reign of
Queen Catherine de
Medici and King
Henry II established
ballet as a formal
court entertainment.
King Henry XIV
established two
ballet schools in
France.
PHILIPPINE
BALLET
Ballet was first
introduced in our
country as
compositional
presentation during
the Spanish
colonization.
The repertoire of
Philippine ballet
displays the
blending of native
themes and
western
aesthetics.
Ballet Philippine is a
prestigious dance
company in the
Philippines and the first
resident dance
company of the Cultural
Center of the
Philippines (CCP)
It was founded
by the National
Artists for
dance: Alice
Reyes and
Eddie Elejar.
Ballet Philippine
presents classical
ballet performances
that showcase the
beautiful culture of
our country
Original Filipino ballets
vividly present folktales
and local fables, as well
as epics from
neighboring regions.

LOLA BASYANG
Was a pen name of
Severino Reyes, who
wrote children stories
published in
Liwayway, the oldest
Tagalog magazine in
the country.

interest of Filipino youth

Dwende
a romantic adventure
about heroine named
Yani whose heart is as
beautiful as her
appearance.
2. Labindalawang
Masasayang Prinsesa
a romantic fantacy about 12
daughters of the king, the
princesses secretly leave
their bedroom at night to
travel to an enchanted land
and dance with the princes.
3. Anting – anting
a horror-comedy in which
the cowardly hero Huan
tries to overcome his fears
in order to win his love.
RAMA HARI
Is a ballet and a
musical production
based on the
Indian epic,
Ramayana.
