5e Wizard Subclass

Arcane Slinger
rcane Slingers look to the future by

A
incorporating recent advancements in
firearm technology with traditional
spellcasting. Originally adopted by Artificers
skilled in enhancing firearms with spell
strike barrels, this tradition has been
adopted by more progressed magic users
whose arcane skill allows the new technology to be
pushed to its limits.
Optional Rule: Firearms
The Arcane Slinger is designed to work with firearms found
in the DMG and Erenel’s firearms. If your campaign doesn’t
use firearms but you want to include this subclass, change
the Arcane Slinger Training to allow the Wizard to use bows
and crossbows instead!

Arcane Slinger Training

2nd-level Arcane Slinger feature
You gain proficiency with light armor and firearms. You
learn a ritual that creates a magical bond between
yourself and one firearm. You perform the ritual over
the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short
rest. The firearm must be within your reach throughout
the ritual, at the conclusion of which you touch the
firearm and forge the bond. You can have one bonded
firearm at a time.
Once you have bonded a firearm to yourself, you can’t
be disarmed of that firearm unless you are
incapacitated. If it is on the same plane of existence, you
can summon that firearm as a bonus action on your
turn, causing it to teleport instantly to your hand. When
you attack with a bonded firearm, you can use your
Intelligence modifier, instead of your Dexterity modifier,
for the attack and damage rolls.
In addition, you can use a firearm as a spellcasting
focus for your wizard spells.
Spell Shot
2nd-level Arcane Slinger feature
When you cast a spell with a melee spell attack, you can
choose to cast the spell by firing it out of your bonded
firearm. When casting a spell in this way, the spell’s
range is instead the firearm’s normal range.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to
your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended
uses of it when you finish a long rest.
