LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER

Welcome! I invite you to look through this catalog, which reflects the
psychological science published by the American Psychological Association.
APA is proud to publish 90 peer reviewed journals spanning the breadth
and depth of psychology. These journals reflect the psychological
community at large, many in partnership with APA's specialty Divisions and
related societies.

When you subscribe to an APA journal, you can be confident that you will
receive top-quality psychological research, which begins with the influential
editors leading each title. The quality of the APA Journals program is
complemented by the policy and standards set by APA and followed throughout the discipline.
In 2020, authors will use the 7th edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological
Association to ensure they are communicating with clear, precise, and inclusive writing.

The APA Journals program further supports the psychological community by offering resources and
practices to engage scholars early and throughout their careers. Many editors offer mentorship
opportunities for early-career scholars to engage in peer review at all stages. APA's Open Science and
Methodology Chair leads a committee to make sure researchers are supported in practices such as
data management and sharing.

Over the past three years, many high-profile titles in the APA Journals portfolio have grown, and
many more continue to do so. Several titles have increased in frequency:
 Psychological Methods
 Psychological Trauma: Theory, Research, Practice, and Policy
 School Psychology (formerly School Psychology Quarterly)
 Qualitative Psychology
 Journal of Occupational Health Psychology
 Personality Disorders: Theory, Research, and Treatment

In 2020, Journal of Experimental Psychology: General will increase its printed pages by 25%. Each
increase represents more quality research and application that you receive as a subscriber. We
are honored to share with you these journals, reflecting the prestige, quality, and values of the
Association, as well as APA's commitment to curating and promulgating influential, innovative
research as broadly as possible.

Rewiring the Connection Between Behavior and Technology

New open access journal from the American Psychological Association
will publish innovative research on human–technology interaction

The journal will publish articles in the following areas:

ƒ Basic research: How humans understand and use technology, impacts of technology on human
experience and behavior, human–technology interactions as mutually adaptive systems, role of
technology in advancing other areas of scientific research, and related topics.

ƒ Foundations of technology design: Development of technologies informed by psychological,

behavioral, and social science research.

ƒ Applications: Development, use, and impact of specific technologies in domains such as aging,
education, mental and physical health, recreation, and the workplace.

ƒ Broader implications: Evidence-based analyses of ethical, legal, social, and policy questions
concerning the opportunities and challenges arising from human–technology interactions.

From the Editor: “I see this journal as upholding a standard of open access to all data and code required
to replicate all stages of research. Technology, Mind, and Behavior will emphasize transparency and
generalizability. We will encourage data sharing and access to targeted technologies, including programming
code. Our objective is to publish studies with either positive or negative results, including null results and
failed replications.” —Danielle S. McNamara, PhD, Arizona State University

ABOUT THE EDITOR: Danielle S. McNamara, PhD, is Professor of Psychology

and Director of the Science of Learning and Educational Technology (SoLET)
laboratory at Arizona State University. Her research focuses on cognitive and learning
sciences, reading comprehension, writing, text and learning analytics, natural
language processing, computational linguistics, and intelligent tutoring systems. This
includes the development and assessment of natural language processing tools (e.g.,
Coh-Metrix) and game-based intelligent tutoring systems (e.g., iSTART, Writing Pal).
Her academic background spans from linguistics and clinical psychology to cognitive
science and human–computer interaction.
