Saber-Tooth Paper Airplane
Instructions by: Eric Leady
This is a set of step by step instructions on how to fold and create you very own Saber-Tooth Paper Airplane!
You will need the following supplies: One sheet of 8 x 11 paper Pens, marker, or alternative
Take note: The dotted red line in the diagrams shows where the fold should be made. Green dots are meant to show relative movement of the paper and do not indicate the location of folds.
Important: When making folds do so on a hard surface and crease firmly with you fingernail unless otherwise directed. Take care that all parts of the paper are aligned before creasing. Lack of care while folding will have a negative effect on your planes ability to fly straight and without nose diving.
STEP 1
Fold the paper in half down its long side.
STEP 2
Fold down one corner to form a triangle at the front of the plane. The edge of the triangle should align with the bottom of the paper.
STEP 3
Turn the plane over and fold down the other front corner in a similar manner. Again, the edge of the triangle should align with the bottom of the paper.
STEP 4
Open up the center fold and place the paper so that the side with the gap through the large triangle is facing up. Fold the large triangle down so that its tip lines up with the center fold.
STEP 5
Re-fold along the center fold so that the triangle is inside the paper.
STEP 6
Fold down one corner to form a triangle at the front of the plane. The edge of the triangle should align with the edge of the paper.
STEP 7
Turn the plane over and fold down the other front corner in a similar manner. Again, the edge of the triangle should align with the bottom of the paper.
STEP 8
Open up the center fold and place the paper so that the side with the solid diamond is facing up. Fold the diamond in half so that its front tip touches its back tip.
STEP 9
Turn the plane over. You should see two small triangle pockets separated by the center line. Insert you index finger into one pocket and pull it forward to create a triangular point off the front of the plane (See diagram). Repeat this step for the other pocket.
STEP 10
With the same side facing up fold the plane in half along the center fold.
STEP 11
Pull down the top half of the paper and fold it along a horizontal line level with the front tip of the plane to create the first wing. Do not crease this fold too hard.
STEP 12
Turn the plane over, pull down, and fold the second wing in a similar manner. Do not crease the fold to hard.
STEP 13
Pull both wings back up half way to create the plane shape.
STEP 14
About on half inch in from the edge of the wings fold up the wing edges.
STEP 15
Using the pens or markers personalize your plane with designs and patterns.
