 STEEL TAPE

Steel tape measure or steel

measuring tape is a flexible ruler
and used to measure distance.

It consists of a metal blade with

linear-measurement markings, pocket
protective case, stopper button, belt
clip, end hook and hand stripe. It is a
common measuring tool. Its design
allows for a measure of great length
to be easily carried in pocket or toolkit and permits one to
measure around curves or corners. Today it is ubiquitous, even
appearing in miniature form as a keychain fob, or novelty item.

 L SQUARE
An L-square is a specialized
carpentry tool that ** squares
patterns and leather when
cutting** . It
1
has an L-shaped
design that makes it ideal for larger
carpentry projects, such as marking
up wide boards and sheet stock,
checking their squareness, and
laying out rafters and stair
stringers . The shorter edge is usually the stock, while the longer edge is

the blade
 CROSSNUT SAW

A crosscut saw (thwart saw) is any saw designed for cutting wood perpendicular to
(across) the wood grain. Crosscut saws may be small or large, with small teeth close
together for fine work like woodworking or large for coarse work like log bucking, and
can be a hand tool or power tool.

The cutting edge of each tooth is angled in an alternating pattern. This design allows
each tooth to act like a knife edge and slice through the wood in contrast to a rip
saw, which tears along the grain, acting like a miniature chisel. Some crosscut saws
use special teeth, called rakers, designed to clean out the cut strips of wood from
the kerf. Crosscut saws generally have smaller teeth than rip saws.

 CHAIN SAW

A chainsaw is a portable handheld power saw that cuts with a set

of teeth attached to a rotating chain driven along a guide bar 12345. It is
commonly used for activities such as tree felling, limbing, bucking,
pruning, and cutting firebreaks in wild land fire suppression.
 HOOK KNIFES

Hook knives are most commonly

used for spoon carving and are
also known as spoon carving
knives. These knives are mainly
used to scoop out the wood
from a blank in order to create a bowl shape. Unlike a chisel, you don’t have to worry
about rough cuts when using this knife. Additionally, if you use a hook knife, you can
choose to avoid having to sand the bowl of your spoon – the blade will provide you
with a relatively smooth finish.

 GOUGES

A gouges is a type of hand-held cutting

tool that is used in woodworking and
furniture restoration to carve and shape
wood. It consists of a blade that is curved
along its length and sharpened on both
sides, and a handle that allows the user to
grip the tool and control its movement.

gouge is a hand tool used to cut and shape

wood bowls on a lathe. The bowl gouge
consists of a handle connected to a sturdy
metal shaft. The metal shaft has a center groove along the top portion known as a
flute. The leading edge, or tip, of the bowl gouge is ground with an angled bevel
which makes a sharp cutting edge that cuts wood as it rotates on a lathe.
 FASTENERS
A fastener or fastening is a hardware device that
mechanically joins or affixes two or more objects
together. In general, fasteners are used to create
non-permanent joints; that is, joints that can be
removed or dismantled without damaging the joining
components. Steel fasteners are usually made

of stainless steel, carbon steel, or alloy steel.

Types of fasteners include

 Screws
 Bolts
 Nuts
 Anchors

 BISCUIT JOINT
A biscuit joint is a method of joinery that involves:

1. Inserting a compressed wood chip (the biscuit) into slots cut into two
corresponding pieces of wood.
2. The oval-shaped biscuit swells and locks the joint in place when placed into a
glue-filled joint
 CLAMPS

A hose clamp is a device used to attach and seal a hose onto a fitting such as a barb or nipple. Screw
clamps consist of a band, often galvanized or stainless steel, into which a screw thread pattern has
been cut or pressed. One end of the band contains a captive screw. The clamp is put around the hose
or tube to be connected, with the loose end being fed into a narrow space between the band and the
captive screw.

 PLIERS

Pliers are a hand tool used to hold objects firmly, possibly developed from tongs
used to handle hot metal in Bronze Age Europe.
They are also useful for bending and physically
compressing a wide range of materials.

Pliers, at first glance, are simply a gripping tool,

but there is actually so much more that these neat
little utensils have to offer.
 WOODEN FLOAT
The primary purpose of a wooden float is to smooth out plaster that has been
freshly poured or applied to a surface. That surface is normally a wall or ceiling
found inside a room or hallway. You can also use the wooden float on rendered
walls that are found on the outside of buildings.

A woodworking float, also called a planemaker's float, is a tapered, flat, single cut file
of two types: edge float and the flat sided float which are traditional woodworking
tools generally used

 PAINT BRUSHES
A paintbrush is a brush used to apply paint or ink. A paintbrush is usually made by
clamping bristles to a handle with a ferrule. They are available in various sizes,
shapes, and materials. Thicker ones are used for filling in, and thinner ones are used
for details. They may be subdivided into decorators' brushes used for painting and
decorating and artists' brushes use for visual art.
