Once upon a time, there was a man named Geppetto who made beautiful
wooden dolls. He lived alone and his dream was to have a son with whom to
share all his love and affection. So, one day Geppetto carved a puppet from a
wood in the shape of a boy. “I will call you Pinocchio,” said Geppetto. Geppetto
wished Pinocchio could come alive so that he could have his own son. The Blue
Fairy heard his wish and at night, she waved her magic wand and turned
Pinocchio into a wooden boy with no strings. “Little wood puppet,” said the Blue
Fairy. “If you can prove that you are brave and true, someday you will be a real
boy.” Geppetto was so excited because his wish had come true and decided to
send Pinocchio to school because he was not a puppet anymore.
One day, on his way to school, Pinocchio saw a puppet show in progress. He
longed to see it but the ticket cost four pences. Pinocchio sold his books to get the
money. On the stage was a puppet show!” I am a puppet, too!” said Pinocchio. “I
can dance like that!” He jumped right onto the stage and started to dance with
the others puppets. Everyone laughed and laughed. They threw coins on the
stage.
The man who ran the fair saw the coins fly onto the stage. The next thing
Pinocchio knew, he was picked up and thrown into a cage. Pinocchio felt lonely
and sad!
All of a sudden, poof! There was the Blue Fairy. Pinocchio told the Blue
Fairy that a big monster had kidnapped him, he was not brave enough to tell the
truth so he told a big lie and his nose grew very long! The Blue Fairy told him to
always tell the truth or this nose would grow and she helped him to escape.
Back at home, Pinocchio stopped at an amusement park. In the park, they
told him that he could eat all ice-cream he wanted.. what they did not tell him
was that ice-cream would turn him into a donkey!
Pinocchio ate until he could no longer, and as soon as he became a donkey, he
was sold to a circus. In the circus, he was forced to work hard and was so
mistreated that, shortly thereafter, he could not even walk. Since it no longer
served to work in the circus, the owner had thrown him out. Out of the circus, he
became a wooden boy again.
On the way home, Pinocchio heard that his father had been swallowed up by a
huge whale while he was looking for his son. He immediately went to find the
whale and tried to get in. Pinocchio and Geppetto were so happy to see each
other.
They made a plan to get out and began to fire a flame in the whale’s stomach.
Pinocchio waved his arms over the flame to make a lot of smoke. Soon, clouds of
black smoke were rising up. As soon as the whale opened his mouth and sneezed.
Pinocchio and Geppetto slipped out. The fairy was pleased with Pinocchio bravery
and she turned him into a real boy. From that day on, he was a very good boy and
never missed school. The father and son lived happily every after .
