Steering Drift

Some Hyundai vehicles may exhibit mild steering drift that can be diagnosed by removing the MDPS fuse. If drift persists, an absolute steering position calibration must be performed using the vehicle's GDS system. This calibration procedure involves monitoring steering sensor data before and after calibration to ensure values like steering angle in a straight position are within acceptable ranges. If calibration is successful, steering drift should no longer occur.

Some Hyundai vehicles equipped with MDPS steering assist may exhibit a mild steering drift under normal driving conditions. If the vehicle exhibits this condition, remove the MDPS fuse to eliminate the steering assist and to diagnose this condition. The MDPS fuse is located in the Engine Room Junction Box. Note: This procedure may set DTCs in the EPS and ESC systems. These codes must be cleared before other operations are performed. If the condition is no longer present, the Absolute Steering Position (ASP) Calibration must be performed. If the Vehicle continues to drift in either direction, refer to TSB 08-SS-004.
