Before the unification of Rajasthan as a single state, it was divided into multiple princely states

the jurisdiction of the respective rulers or chiefs. There was no unified high court for the region.

After India gained independence in 1947, the need for a unified judicial system became
evident. To address this need, the Rajasthan High Court was established on 29th August
1949 under the Rajasthan High Court Ordinance The process of integrating princely states
into the Indian Union began. Rajasthan, which was formed by merging various princely states
and regions, needed a centralized judicial institution. This led to the establishment of the

established on 21 June 1949 under the Rajasthan High Court Act, 1949. The court was
inaugurated by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, at its temporary location in

Shift to Permanent Location:
The high court was initially situated in the Meherangarh Fort in Jodhpur. However, recognizing
the need for a more suitable and spacious building, a new building was constructed to house the
Rajasthan High Court at a different location in Jodhpur. The foundation stone for the new building
was laid in 1952, and the high court started functioning from its current premises in 1954.
Expansion and Benches:
Over time, as the state of Rajasthan continued to grow, the need for more accessible justice arose.
To address this, two benches of the Rajasthan High Court were established: one in Jaipur, the
capital city, and another in Jodhpur. These benches allowed for easier access to justice for people
across the state.

As an integral part of our 21-day legal internship program conducted by the Rajasthan State
Legal Service Authority (RSLSA) , we were privileged to undergo an immersive and practical
training experience at the Mediation Centre. This exceptional training, organized by RALSA,
focused on vital aspects of legal practice: notice writing, non-starter report preparation, and
effective file organization. Our time at the Mediation Centre provided us with invaluable skills
essential for a successful legal career.
Notice Writing: During the course of our internship with RALSA, we dedicated a segment to
mastering the art of notice writing at the Mediation Centre. Expert legal practitioners shared
insights and techniques, guiding us through the intricacies of crafting clear, precise, and legally
MEDIATION notices. Through practical exercises and real-world case scenarios, we honed our
ability to communicate legal intent effectively through well-structured notices.
Non-Starter Report: In the same immersive internship program, we delved into the often
overlooked realm of non-starter reports. We learned to assess cases that do not progress as
planned and acquired skills in drafting comprehensive non-starter reports. The Mediation Centre,
as part of our RALSA internship experience, provided us with guidance on thorough

documentation, legal analysis, and strategic recommendations for further legal action. This aspect
of the training was instrumental in refining our skills in managing and strategizing for legal cases.
File Organization: Integral to the training was an immersive session on the art of file organization.
Recognizing the importance of systematic file management, we were taught practical techniques
for labeling, indexing, and categorizing legal documents. This knowledge enabled us to create
efficient systems for accessing information, whether physical or digital, promptly. The Mediation
Centre training experience under the RALSA internship program imparted skills that will

of 7 days, fully integrated into the RALSA internship program. Guided by seasoned mentors, we
engaged in hands-on exercises, simulations, and practical applications. We drafted notices,
compiled non-starter reports, and organized legal files, translating theoretical concepts into
practical skills that can be directly applied to our future legal careers.
