Water Tank Vastu Tips (Making

Vastu Compliant Overhead &

Underground Water Tanks)
3.7KSHARES1594104
Water tank vastu ensures that water tanks in your home are as per vastu
shastra and aren’t bringing-in ill effects to the residents. Water tanks have
different effects – and behave differently when located at different places.
The effect – or ill-effect – of water tanks depends upon where it’s
located with respect to the house. Hence it’s important to locate them as
per vastu shastra and water tank vastu helps us achieve just that.
Now, in a house, a water tank can be located via 2 ways:
1. Underground – the ones that are dug up
2. Overhead or roof top – The ones that are placed on the roof
For both types of water tanks (underground and overhead) vastu shastra has
got rules and regulations that you need to know and implement while
locating a water tank – of either type – in your home.
As said earlier, incorrectly placed water tanks – of any type – brings malefic
affects to the residents of the house.
On the other hand, properly placed tanks could help attract wealth, name
& fame, abundance and prosperity.
So without any delay, let’s dive right into learning vastu principles for water
tanks in a home.

Water Tank Vastu – Here’s how to

do it!
As we’ve discussed earlier that water tanks can be of two types, namely,
underground and overhead. As per vastu for water tanks, an underground
water tank behaves way differently than the overhead one. Hence
there’re different set of vastu tips and rules for each type of water tank.
Now, to make it easier for you to understand, I’ve divided this section of the
article in 2 parts. The first part deals with vastu tips for overhead water
tanks and the second part with that of underground ones.
So, let’s begin with the first part.

Overhead Water Tank Vastu –

How to Do It
An overhead water tank is the one that you place on the roof of the house.
This means that an overhead water tank puts load on the area where it’s
located. This is the reason why you need to locate the overhead tanks
at permissible vastu locations.
To make it easy for you to comprehend the permitted vastu locations for
overhead tanks, I’ve made an image (that you can see below). This image
reveals the best location of overhead water tanks in a house as per vastu
Shastra.
Do have a very good look at it.

Overh
ead Water Tank Vastu – The Best Locations
Here’s what the image means:
1. Best located in SW or West
2. Can be located in South too
3. NW is the last option for overhead water tank placement (the tank should be
small & 2-3 feet away from NW corner)
4. Never locate it in NE as that makes NE heavy
5. Don’t locate in SE; results in loss of wealth and accidents
6. Never locate at the center of house
Apart from all this, here’re more vastu tips for overhead water tank.

Overhead Water Tank – What to Do

1. Keep SW and South tank on a platform that’s 1-2 feet higher than the roof.
2. For a tank in West there’s no need for a platform; you can place the tank at
roof level.
3. Blue or black colored plastic tanks can be used (avoid plastic tanks)
4. Keep the tanks completely covered
5. Clean the tanks regularly
6. Have separate water tanks for kitchen and bathrooms/toilets

Overhead Water Tank – What to Avoid

1. Avoid using plastic water tanks
2. Never locate a water tank above a kitchen or bedroom
3. No dampness or leaks from tanks (especially in SW)
These were all the overhead water tank vastu tips that you need to take care
of. Vastu for underground water tank is discussed in the next section, so just
read on.

Underground Water Tank – Here’s

What You Need to Do
An underground water tank is the one that’s dug up in the ground. This
means that it creates a depression in the area wherever it’s created. This
is the reason why you need to make sure to locate it at only
permitted areas as per vastu shastra.
Similar to overhead tanks, I’ve created an image (that you can see below)
that’ll reveal to you the best and permitted locations (as per vastu shastra)
to locate or place an underground water tank in your house.
Do have a look at it too!

-Water-Tank-Vastu.png
Underground Water Tank Vastu –
The Best Locations
Here’s what that image means:
1. Locate the tank towards NE of the house.
2. The tank can be towards North and East
3. Tank can also be located at 5th pada in West
4. If there’s no option than you can also locate the tank in 4 th pada in South
Note: In the image you’ll see that there’re locations in North, South, East
and West of the house where you can place underground water tanks. While
some vastu consultants would agree to this arrangement, others would
straightway disagree. Hence, it’s best to locate an underground tank at the
“all agreed” location of NE part of the house.

Underground Water Tank – It’s Effects

If there be a well to the south-east of a village or town, it
would mostly cause constant fear, and danger from fire to men.
If it is situated in the south-west, it causes loss of
children ; if in the north* west, fit threatens the wife; wells
in directions other than these three are productive of
beneficial results.

Wells and bores in the plot:

North wealth and prosperity
Northeast wealth, health and prosperity
East loss of children
South east fear of fire
South fear of enemies
Southwest clashes with women
West bad effects on women
Northwest poverty
However the text Manasara says a well in southeast also good.
As a result vaasthu suggests wells in north, northeast and southeast are
good. Wells and bores in westward and southward directions will have
following bad effects.

4 AM to 6 AM no thiti dosa for any work

Activities to be avoided in your Janma Nakshatra day

Marriage, Seemantham (ceremony conducted during advanved pregnancy) and Graha

 It is most beneficial if a well is dug in the east side of the north-east corner of the plot. There
will be an increase in wealth as well as prosperity.

 If the well is dug to the north side of the north-east corner there will be an increase in wealth
but reputation increases marginally.

 The well should be in the north-east corner. It should be dug less than half way to the east and
the north sides. It should not be constructed in the south-east or the north-west corners.

 A well in the east direction leads to prosperity, in the north results in increase in wealth, in the
west one has to face many difficulties and hardships. When dug in the south it will lead to
untimely deaths, deformities, frequent accidents and suicide attempts.

 Unnecessary enmity and theft will result if the well in the plot is in the northwest corner it
leads to.

 Never built a well in the south-west corner of the plot. Vastu Shastra considers it inauspicious
as it may result in the untimely death of the head of the family. Violence increases; there will be
a total failure in the jobs undertaken; loss of wealth, suicide, clashes in the family and other
problems will arise. These troubles are adequate to make life miserable.

 If a well is constructed in the south-east corner it may prove to be perilous for children. Fire
and water are two opposite elements and when they come together, clashes and troubles are
infused in one's life. additional troubles include loss of wealth and serious strife at home.
Compared to men women will suffer more losses.

 If there is a well at the centre of the plot or building it will definitely ruin the family. The
central position is accredited to Brahma and hence no construction can be done here. As a result
nobody can stay in such places for a long time and life becomes unstable.

 The well should be dug only after the land has been worshipped. Before digging the well, the
place should be clearly demarcated. If the well is dug when the stars are favourable the water is
easily obtained at a low level and it will also taste good.
 For digging a well, the favourable constellations are Rohini, Uttra, Hasta, Uttara Bhadrapada
etc.
 It is advisable that the digging starts on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday as these are
considered auspicious days.
 Digging the well should not be started, as far as possible, on the zero day, {Kshya day) or
Vridhi tithi.
 Moreover when the constellations are facing downwards digging can be started. Amongst the
downward facing constellations, Bharani, Purva, Krutika, Purvashadha, Purva Bhadrapada, Mula
and Ashlesha are favorable for constructing a well.

The aforementioned rules are applicable not only to residential buildings but also to business
establishments, hospitals, temples and others.

The harmful gases expel through voids presents in wells. As the winds in
1 India flows from southwest normally collects the gases and spreads into
the house.

2 Water gets heated slowly and cool down slowly compared to any
building materials. So the heat energy gained by sun in west and south
directions after the noon till sunset will remain in water present in this
direction. So dwellers will experience the heat waves even after sunset.
Well in northeast should be round in shape. If it is square or rectangle it
blocks the way between north and east considerably. And should provide
space surrounding the round well in order to clean the area left in-
between north and east compound walls and the well.

Vaasthu showed a way to divide the northeast corner into north-

northeast and east-northeast by drawing a line joining the northeast
corner of the compound wall and northeast corner of the
building.............
The lanes that jut the plot will create wider scope for passing of the cosmic
rays, wind, and rain. So there was need to decide the merits and demerits of
the lanes that abuts the plot. Vaasthu rules out the plot whether it is
auspicious, prosperous, or not suitable.
In above picture it is shown all possible eight roads, which abuts the
plot. As per Vaasthu these lanes that abuts the plot are good.

1. Northeast corner of east face of the plot

2. Northeast corner of north face of the plot

In India winds blows from southwest, northeast, east and northwest

Directions. Most of the winds come from southwest direction.

As northeast corner kept more opened in both east and north face of
the building in order to have cosmic rays from northeast corner. The
roads that abut the plot add more rays to the plot as well as building.
And the winds from southwest corner will not create any vacuum as
northeast corner kept opened in both east and north directions. For this
reason Vaasthu suggests to keep main doors in this region which are
called as uchcha sthana (peak-level).
3. Southeast corner of south face of the plot.

4. Northwest corner of west face of the plot.

The lanes jutting the plot in these two directions will carry southwest
wind, and winds from west and south directions to the plot and
building. This air can be easily ventilated through the opening provided
at northeast corner. For this reason Vaasthu suggests us to keep doors
in this region and are called uchcha sthana (peak-level).

As per Vaasthu these lanes that juts the plot gives bad effects on
health and inauspicious.
1. Northwest corner of north face of the plot.

2. Southeast corner of the east face of the plot.

The lanes that juts the plot in these two directions helps the winds
more that comes from southwest take away the air present in the plot
and building by southwest winds. As a result the air present in the plot
and house will be sucked away in opposite direction to the normal
winds (southwest) surrounding the building. And thus it creates
vacuum in the house, which reduces the availability of oxygen
considerable levels. In long run this affects the health of the children
and aged people and leads to serious and permanent health problems.
For this reason Vaasthu suggests not to keep main doors in this region
and are called as neecha sthana (low-level).

3. Southwest corner of east face of the plot.

4. Southwest corner of south face of the plot.

The lanes that juts the plot in this directions helps in affecting the plot
and building more by sunrays which contains harmful ultra-violet rays
and infrared (heat) rays.

The direction of the rain becomes the direction of prominent winds

(southwest); rain through the lanes that juts the plot affects the
southwest corner of the building..............

Consideration of lunar day

According to astrology except the Rikta tithi i.e. the 4th, 9th and
14th lunar days, all lunar days are auspicious for pond and
tubewell digging. A native can carry out the digging job in any of
the auspicious lunar days to get positive results.
