Introduction
I wish to introduce myself and the professional services I'm quali ed to
provide.
My Credentials
Timothy Gordon, MSW, is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario
College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, registration #822287.
Direct Practice
I am trained in numerous evidence-based practices and work from the third
wave of cognitive behavioural therapies: speci cally, Acceptance and Commitment
Therapy (ACT) and other approaches to evidence-based counselling and
psychotherapy; mindfulness and contemplative practices from a “strengths-based”
and “client-centred” perspective are at the heart of my approach.
For the treatment of PTSD and OCD, exposure is a strongly supported evidence-
based treatment, which is the focus of my approach.
Assessment & Report Writing
I am trained in an internationally used and continuing education accredited
parenting capacity assessment methodology (PCA), the principles of which are
successfully applied to custody and access/parenting plan assessment and
forensic assessments.

Consultation & Supervision for Counselling & Psychotherapy Professionals
My consultation model has a foundation in evidence-based, third-wave
cognitive behavioural approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT);
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT); Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT);
Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP); Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy
(MBCT); Prolonged Exposure (PE); Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
(TF-CBT), Exposure and Response (Ritual) Prevention (ERP). Speci cally, our
interactions will be guided by the principles of positive reinforcement,
targeting your behaviours in the present moment. Our work aims to help you
better discriminate clinically relevant behaviours for when you can best intervene in
the service of helping your clients nd their way to a rich, meaningful life and the
relationships they want. Apart from focusing on your current work with your clients,
we will also focus on developing new skills and techniques so that you feel you
have new ideas and ways to intervene in-session.
I aim for our consultations to have the following main functions:
1. I want to show you that I am fully in contact with you and your experience of
your clinical challenges and questions.
2. That I am responsive to your needs and willing to adapt to the situations you are
faced with in your practice.
3. To create a sacred space in our work where you can notice and receive your
reactions to your clients and work toward self-compassion.
4. To help you learn how the processes you notice and the behaviours you
practice in that space can be integrated into your direct practice and increase
your clients and your exibility.
5. To allow you to close each of our sessions with a deep sense that you have the
resources to help your clients and yourself move forward.
Consultation, Notes, & Liability
Please note that consultation does not serve the function of supervision.
Upon request, you will be provided with a consultation note to add to your records;
however, consultation does not include the administrative and, therefore, liability/
taking on the responsibility of care and risk of supervision. Clients’ con dential/
identifying information can not be revealed or discussed in consultation sessions.

Measuring E ectiveness
Together, we will regularly re ect on your progress. This should help us
understand the usefulness of our work over time and focus on practices that bene t
you.
It’s helpful if you complete the Psychological Flexibility, Goals & Life Overview
Questionnaire regularly before appointments. It gives me an update on your
progress through the lens of a standardized questionnaire. A link to this
questionnaire can be found in your appointment con rmation and reminder
emails.
For rst-time appointments, you must complete the questionnaire before your
appointment time.
Privacy & Limits to Con dentiality
Your privacy is important to me. I will not share information about you or our
work without your permission unless I am required to do so by law. These limits to
con dentiality are in such situations where I believe that you or someone else is at
risk of imminent harm, including if you are going to seriously harm yourself or
someone else, cases of suspected child abuse or if I am court-ordered,
subpoenaed, or provided with a warrant. Although these situations are rare, if they
should arise, I will do my best to inform you if I can.
Your information is electronically secured. Persons without a legitimate interest do
not have access to this information.
I regularly consult with an external supervisor or engage in peer consultation to
discuss our sessions during our work together. This process is an aspect of my
professional practice and aims to improve my effectiveness, including aiding myself
in reviewing pertinent information from sessions. Supervisory and peer consultation
relationships are bound by the same con dentiality laws to protect your privacy and
the privacy of the clients being served.

Unregulated Practitioners Working Under My Supervision
Unregulated practitioners work under my direct supervision as part of The
Zen Social Worker’s approach. These roles involve meditation and yoga counselling,
ACT Skills, and mindfulness counselling, in line with each practitioner's training,
experience, and expertise. While these practitioners do not engage in activities
restricted to regulated health professionals, their work is essential in complementing
the services provided within my practice.
All services provided by unregulated practitioners are thoroughly planned and
overseen by myself to ensure adherence to professional standards and ethical
guidelines. This structure ensures that clients receive the highest quality of care
while maintaining accountability.
Jurisdiction & Territory Note
You may be interested in working with me if you reside outside Ontario,
Canada, but there is no registration or licensure outside Ontario, Canada. This
means the protections offered to clients are not regulated in your area.
All disputes arising are subject to the laws of Canada, and any claims must be
made in a Canadian Jurisdiction.
I appreciate your interest in working with me,
Timothy Gordon, MSW, RSW (OCSWSSW)
