Monday: Reading/Phonics
Reading (RS 1.5): Li4le Red Hen
10 min - Present vocabulary
Go over vocabulary defini:ons.
Choral drill vocabulary via phonics and straight-forward

5 min – Read story with class following teacher one :me.


5 min – Read story with students taking turns reading one sentence each.
5 min – Reread story with students reading a sec:on individually.

Phonics (SRA Phonics E): Unit 2 – Picnic/The Elf/Blossom the Skunk (part 1)
5 min – Choral drill words again for sec:on 2 in phonics, pick individual students to read a
column of words.
10 min – Read story chorally, then assign each segment to individual students to read.
10 min - Have students answer some comprehension ques:ons about the story

Tuesday: Grammar/Wri:ng
Grammar (GS3): Unit 3 – ComparaNves
10 min – Introduce grammar paIerns on white board, put examples, call each student to
correct or fill in examples.
15 min – Hand out book, review examples again on demo page, have students work on
exercises in the unit. Walk around and monitor student progress, make on-the-spot
correc:ons if necessary.
5 min – Go over grammar pages answers (call on students to give answer for each
ques:on), write correct answers on board, and have students correct their own work.

WriNng (Spin C): Unit 1 – What Time is It? Daily Schedule


10 min – Go over how to tell the :me/daily schedule example
10 min – Students stand up and talk about their daily schedule (I get up at 7am, I go to
school at 8am…etc.)
Wednesday: Reading/Phonics
Reading (RS 1.5): Li4le Red Hen
15 min – Present sentences, have students copy sentences from story into notebooks
5 min – Read text with class following teacher one :me.
5 min – Read text students taking turns reading one sentence each.

Phonics (SRA Phonics E): Unit 2 – Blossom the Skunk (finish)/Sam & Nelly/An Itch
5 min – Choral drill words for sec:on 2 in phonics, pick individual students to read a
column of words.
25 min – Read stories chorally, go over defini:on of difficult words, then students take
turns reading parts of the stories.

10 min - Reinforcement ac:vity: Play a word game with words from the phonics story
where students have to find words that rhyme.

Monday: Grammar/Wri:ng
Grammar (GS3): Unit 3 – ComparaNves
10 min – Review Unit 3 grammar, review examples on the white board
15 min – Come up with grammar exercises on board for students to copy down and
answer.

WriNng (Spin C): Unit 1 - PreposiNons of Time: in/on/at


5 min – Review preposi:on examples taught last week
15 min – Students work on exercises on pages 11-12
5 min – Call on students to answer each ques:on and write correct answers on board.

5 min – Students come up with before and aYer sentences using their daily schedule
10 min – Students work on pages 13-14 exercise, go over answers.
5 min – Students read song on page 15 and do maze on page 16.
Thursday: Review
10 min – Review sentences from reading and grammar concepts taught this week.
