1. Human Nature
In 2018, Human Nature stepped up its sustainability commitment with lighter, 100% recyclable 1-liter
refill bottles which can reduce plastic use by up to 72% compared to our regular shampoo bottles. The
following year, pilot Home Care refilling stations were launched for dishwashing liquid and liquid
detergents in three branches, and spearheaded a nationwide petition to enhance existing industry
regulations to accommodate cosmetics refilling. Starting 2019, the first of our waterless products were
introduced, the Shampoo Bar, which saves up to 98.59% plastic versus shampoo bottles. Next came the
Dishwashing Powder, with 98.90% less plastic. These waterless wonders are good for humans and the
environment.
2. Kawayan
A Philippine-brand providing eco-friendly bamboo watches. It comes in different shapes, colors, and
styles that fit in every personality. These watches are locally made from bamboo, which is a sustainable
and biodegradable material that grows abundantly in the Philippines.
3. ECHOstore
ECHOstore sustainable lifestyle was established in 2008 by three forward-looking women who wanted
a place for all the eco-friendly and natural products one looks for to sustain a lifestyle that cares for the
environment. ECHOstore, by its very name, cares for the Environment, helps the Community, promotes
Health and works with Organizations.
4. Real Food
REAL FOOD gives its customers a carefully curated selection of healthy edibles:
Organic fruits and vegetables grown chemical-free; chickens raised free-range without antibiotics or
hormones; grass-fed pork and beef; hormone-free dairy products; prepared foods and snacks made
without preservatives, colorings or refined sugar; vegan & gluten-free options; whole grain,
long-fermented breads; powdered superfood supplements to add to your fresh juices or smoothies;
refined sugar-free sweets and chocolates; wine made from organic grapes; fresh juices, teas, kombucha
and other healthy beverages.
5. Leyende
Leyende assures each customer that each of their products does not contain harmful chemicals. Some
of them are sulfates, petroleum, GMOs or human or animal by-products. They attest that their products
are certified cruelty free. They are dedicated to develop and produce high quality natural and organic
products by using raw ingredients from both local and overseas ECOCERT-accredited farms and
companies. They have been dedicated to producing and developing high quality, sulphate-free natural
and organic products with raw ingredients from local and overseas. The brand has gone far as they also
are a supplier for some boutiques in Malaysia and spas in Nigeria.
INTERNATIONAL COMPANIES
1. Starbucks
As a progression against those goals, the company commits to Carbon Neutral Green Coffee and to
conserve water usage in green coffee processing by 50%, both by 2030.
Starbucks has a bold aspiration to be a resource positive company, to take less and give more to the
planet in every aspect of its business – including coffee. Starbucks purchases coffee from more than
400,000 farmers in 30 countries around the world and is committed to a sustainable future for coffee.
To protect the resiliency of this supply chain, the people that make it possible, and the planet we all
share, Starbucks set goals to achieve carbon neutral green coffee and conserve water usage in green
coffee processing by 50% by 2030.
2. IKEA
With over 400 stores worldwide and a presence in 41 countries, the Swedish furniture retailer IKEA
has been one of the most successful global furniture retailers for over a decade. In its ‘People & Planet
Positive’ sustainability report, the company outlines its 2030 sustainability strategy, which includes
sourcing 100% of its wood, paper and cardboard from recycled or FSC certified wood, making their
products more sustainable with substantiated environmental improvements and producing as much
renewable energy as it consumes.
3. Unilever
Unilever Sustainable Living Plan (USLP) was launched in 2010. USLP serves as the company’s
blueprint for sustainable growth in an uncertain world by helping to drive profitable growth for its
brands, save costs, and fuel innovation. The Plan is distinctive for the way it spans Unilever’s entire
portfolio and market, its socio-economic dimension, and its work across the whole value chain from
raw material suppliers to consumers.
4. Timberland
The outdoor wear brand, which specialises in footwear, is committing to planting 50 million trees
(enough to circle the earth 11 times) by 2025 in a bid to play an essential role in creating a sustainable
future. Timberland’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond planting trees, with initiatives also
filtering into product innovation. D’Aprile says the brand aims to use 100% sustainable organic cotton
within the next few years. It also offers staff 40 hours each per year to contribute to green activities.
5. Nike
With the focus on reducing its carbon footprint, Nike has set several targets based on scientific
research, and building on the goals that the brand didn’t quite make in the year previous. These include
swapping the materials in its high-volume products with low-carbon alternatives; collaborating with
independent factories and material suppliers to find better alternatives for production methods and
energy sourcing; decreasing packaging and reducing its shipping emissions; and rolling out upcycling
programmes like Nike Refurbished.
