Product overview
IBM Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager provides the tools and information needed to create and manage volume-level snapshots on snapshot-oriented storage systems. The applications that contain data on those volumes remain online. Optionally, backups can be sent to Tivoli Storage Manager storage.

Step 3: Install Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager
Ensure that the environment meets the requirements documented in the Hardware and Software Requirements technote (http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21427692) and in the checklists that are available in this technote. Then, insert the product DVD into the DVD drive and complete these tasks for your operating system: Windows: Log on as an administrator. If autorun is enabled, the installation dialog starts automatically when the DVD loads. Otherwise, select Start Run and at the prompt, specify x:\setupfcm.exe where x is your DVD drive, and click OK. Follow the installation instructions that are displayed and click Finish to complete the installation. UNIX and Linux: Log in to the production server as user ID root. Navigate to the appropriate directory and enter one of these commands:
Graphic mode (requires an X-Server): ./3.1.0.0-TIV-TSFCM-[OS-platform].bin Console mode: ./3.1.0.0-TIV-TSFCM-OS-[platform].bin -i console
Follow the instructions that are displayed to complete the installation. Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager for VMware: Log in to the Linux virtual machine or the Linux backup server as root user ID. Navigate to the appropriate directory and enter one of these commands:
Graphic mode (requires an X-Server): ./3.1.0.0-TIV-TSFCM-VMware.bin Console mode: ./3.1.0.0-TIV-TSFCM-VMware.bin -i console
Follow the instructions that are displayed to complete the installation.
