NM REAL ID LIST OF ACCEPTABLE DOCUMENTS

Effective October 17, 2016: Revised rule 18.19.5.12 NMAC provides that the documents listed below are acceptable proof for non-commercial
REAL ID driver’s licenses and Identification Cards.

Provide certain documents from section A, B and C to get a New Mexico REAL ID. Your documents must be original or certified copies.
A certified copy is a copy of a primary document that is endorsed by the entity that issued the original document. Photocopies,
notarized photocopies and non-certified copies are NOT acceptable. A REAL ID can only be issued AFTER MVD has electronically
verified the Lawful Status and Identification Number documents. For more information, please reference the Resource Guide on page
2 of this document.

visit the National Center for Health Statistic’s website at https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/w2w/index.htm.

New Mexico Vital Records – For an original or certified copy of a birth record, contact the Department of Health
(DOH), New Mexico Vital Records website at https://nmhealth.org/about/erd/bvrhs/vrp/. Approximate cost per copy
is $10.00. Expedited services are available at an additional cost.

clerk’s office in the county where the marriage license or divorce decree was issued - cost will vary.
