Independence Day)

I. The Context or Background of the Study

Philippine Independence Day is a national holiday in the Philippines celebrated on

12th of June every year. It commemorates the country's declaration of independence
from Spain on June 12, 1898, after more than 300 years of Spanish colonization.
The event is significant because it marked the birth of the Philippine Republic, the
first democratic form of government in Asia.

The Philippines' struggle for independence was a long and difficult one, marked by
numerous uprisings and revolutions against Spanish colonial rule. The declaration of
independence in 1898 was the solace of this struggle and represented a turning
point in the country's history.

Today, Philippine Independence Day is celebrated with parades, flag-raising

ceremonies, cultural events, and other activities that showcase the country's history,
culture, and achievements. It is an important day for Filipinos around the world to
remember and honor their country's struggle for freedom, as well as to celebrate
their national identity and pride.
The celebration of Philippine Independence Day is an opportunity for schools to
promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the country's rich history,
culture, and traditions among their students. Through various activities and
programs, students can develop a sense of pride and identity as Filipinos and
