The Humanities and Art

Humanities

- are subjects that study human lip, thought and culture. These include things like
history. history, literature. philosophy, and the arts. Etymologically, , the term
Humanities is from a latin word humans which means educated. It refers to the
learning of arts such as architecture, dance. literature, music, painting. theatre and
sculpture.

Art

- is a creative way of expressing ideas and emotions through things like painting, music,
dana, and writing. It can make us feel, think, or see the world in new ways. Also, a way
to share stories or communicate without words.

Connection Between Humanities and Art

- Art reflects human life and culture. When studying art, we see how people from
different cultures and times expressed themselves and their experiences.

Why Humanities and Art Matter?

1. Understanding Culture: Art and the humanities help us understand different


societies and how people live.

2. Critical Thinking: They teach us to think deeply and interpret meaning behind what
we see or read.

3. Personal Growth: They help us grow emotionally and creatively, and they inspire
change in society.
Functions of Art

•Communication - art speaks to us through images, music, and words, even without
language.

• Reflection of Society - it shows what's happening in the world, like history or current
social issues.

• Enjoyment - art can be beautiful and enjoyable, simply making us feel good.

• Change - artists often use their work to push for social or political change.
