POSSIBLE RESOLUTION
Addressing the Economic Crisis and Government Inaction in Mozambique’s
Rural Areas
The General Assembly,
Guided by the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter, which
emphasize cooperation to solve international economic and humanitarian
issues,
Acknowledging the severe poverty and food insecurity in rural Mozambique,
where government inaction has led to worsening conditions,
Noting with concern the financial crisis affecting Mozambique, particularly in
regions where the government has not provided adequate support despite the
economic collapse,
Recognizing the importance of international aid and cooperation to prevent
further economic deterioration and human suffering,
Aware that without urgent intervention, Mozambique risks losing $10,000 in aid
or financial support that could alleviate the suffering of its people,
Urges the Government of Mozambique to take immediate action in addressing
poverty and food insecurity in its rural areas, particularly the village in question,
by: Allocating emergency funds to provide basic necessities, such as food, clean
water, and healthcare.Collaborating with international organizations and NGOs to
establish food distribution networks.
Calls upon the international community, particularly neighboring countries and
major powers such as the United States and Russia, to provide:
Financial aid and technical assistance to Mozambique, ensuring transparency in
how aid is distributed.
Support for sustainable agricultural development programs to improve food
security in the long term.
Encourages Mozambique to seek assistance from the International Monetary
Fund (IMF) and the World Bank to restructure its debt and stabilize its economy,
allowing for better financial management and poverty reduction strategies
Recommends the creation of a Mozambique Economic Relief Task Force within
the United Nations, which will:
Monitor the distribution of international aid and ensure it reaches the areas most
affected by poverty.Advise Mozambique on financial management, investment in
social programs, and long-term sustainable development.Hold the government
accountable for inaction and work to prevent future humanitarian crises
.
Calls for the immediate release of the $10,000 in financial aid, with the stipulation
that the funds be used exclusively for poverty alleviation in Mozambique’s most
vulnerable regions.
Requests that Mozambique’s government provide regular updates to the United
Nations on the steps being taken to address the crisis, ensuring transparency and
accountability in the use of international aid
.
Further encourages the Government of Mozambique to engage in regional
cooperation with neighboring countries to share best practices on poverty
reduction, agricultural development, and crisis management.
