TENTACLES OF SIN
Text: James 1:14-15
Prayer
Eternal Rock of Ages, we say thank you. Be thou exalted,
righteous God, Father Lord. We are learning at Your feet tonight.
Take absolute control. We come against every spirit of
distraction in the name of Jesus. And we pray that at the end of
our journey tonight's study will not be counted against us on
Judgment Day. Thank you, Heavenly Father. For in Jesus' name, I
have prayed. Amen
Introduction
Today's teaching might look short, but ensure you don't
trivialize it. It will come as a warning to some, a reproof to some
and an instruction to some. Therefore, kindly hold onto that
which is applicable to you, strongly.
Bible Text: James 1:14-15
[14]But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own
desires and enticed.
[15]Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and
sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
Study
One of the characteristics of sin is its ability to reproduce. Just
the way some animals have tentacles and a common one we
know is the octopus, which mostly has eight tentacles, there is
also what we know has the tentacles of sin. This tentacles of sin
simply tells us about how that sins are connected to each other
and they also tend to give birth to other ones. Have you noticed
when you were little or so that the moment you decided to cover

up the little wrong you committed with a little lie, it began to
expand to greater sins as time went on. This is because all sins
come from a single entity; the father of all sinners, so the sins are
interconnected with one another. This is why whenever you
commit a sin, if you are not careful, you begin to commit other
sins because that first sin begins to beckon unto others.
Our text;
James 1:14-15:
"But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own
lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth
forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."
After sin has birthed various sins, the end point is always
constant which is death. This is why we are always being
cautioned to take heed lest we be caught by the deceitfulness of
sin. Sin is deceptive and anyone who is not wise enough would
be deceived by the devil and caught up in the web of sin.
The main reason you have not really grown spiritually is because
you are held down by one of the tentacles of sin. And, should I
tell you that what the devil tries to do is make you fall into one
sin and begins to lure you into ones.
And, the way he mostly achieves this in the lives of unsuspecting
Christians is by "secret sins". Secret sin looks covered in the eyes
of people, but very clear to God. When you begin to engage in
secret sins; sins that you commit secretly in your hidden place,
you begin to advance and promote to the next sinful stage. A
stage where more sins are being committed.Look at David, the
sin of adultery he committed led to him taking the life another
person to cover up. That's how secret sins work. When you are
involved in secret sins, you will mostly want to always try to
cover up by engaging in more sins.

So, the word of God to someone here tonight is that, when you
mistakenly fall into a sin, rather than continue swimming in it,
seek God's mercy and move on wit your holy and righteous
living.
Remember, that the bible said
Hebrews 12:1:
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a
cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin
which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the
race that is set before us,"
You are to lay aside every sin and weight before they become
strongholds. I don't know who this short message is for, but
kindly know that you shouldn't overlook that sin that looks like
the littlest of all. There is no little sin, but a strategy the devil
uses to keep dragging one into more sins. If you are here and you
have found yourself easily falling into sins, please, this is a time
to rely on Jesus Christ to help you overcome. Your focus
shouldn't be on the sins, but on Jesus Christ. When your focus is
mainly on Jesus Christ, His grace will be sufficient for you and
capable of keeping you without blemish.
Also, if you are here and finding it hard to do away with any
addiction or sin, please seek help and counseling. This is a
Christian ministry and whenever you seek counsel from the
leaders of the ministry, they will do their best to attend to you
the best godly and biblical way they can. Do not allow the
tentacles of sin tie you down and not make you progress in your
spiritual walk with God. Open up and seek help from
God-minded people.

Addictions have a way of gradually pulling down a person no
matter the height the person has attained spiritually. Therefore,
be very careful that your ways are void of sinful acts.
Before I end the teaching today, I want you to pray this prayers;
1. Lord Jesus Christ, break every tentacle of sin tying me down in
the name of Jesus Christ
2. I come out of every sinful addiction the devil has succeeded in
pushing me into, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Invitation
If you know that you are still living in sin and you are ready to
repent and begin to live your life in strict obedience to God so
that you can overcome every sin in your life to make heaven,
please place your right hand on your chest and say this prayer
with your mouth.
Say,
"Lord Jesus, I accept You as my personal Lord and Savior. I
believe that You died for me and took away my sins so that I will
not face the penalty of them. I surrender my life to You today,
and I make a decision to obey and follow You. Come into my life
now and accept me as Your child. Thank You for saving me, in
Jesus Christ's name I pray, Amen."
