Introduction

Physical education often abbreviated to P.E, is a subject taught in schools around the world. It is
usually taught during primary and secondary education and encourages psychomotor learning by
using a play and movement exploration setting to promote health and physical fitness. Physical
education provides cognitive content and instruction designed to develop motor skills, knowledge,
and behaviour for physical activity and physical.

Why is physical education important

i. Improve academic performance

Studies have demonstrated that physical activity, including team sports, biking, swimming at
the beach, and playground game, has positive effects on the brain and academic achievement.
Children learn how to be motivated and productive, fit and healthy for life, as well as how to
think creatively through physical education. It has bee demonstrated that participation in
sports. Physical education, and physical activity increases students’ sense of connection to
their school and its objectives. The degree to which children act socially responsible at school.
A busy mind makes it easier to focus for longer periods of time and may also be beneficial for
learning.

ii. Develop social skills

Physical education teaches children the concept of team work, and being a team member
provides them a feeling of identity. Children learn skills that open the door for positive
interactions and relationships throughout life when physical education teachers exhibit
prosocial behavior. They learn vital social and communication skills from this. It enables
students to support others, collaborate with variety of team members, and develop as team
players.

iii. Reduces stress

They must finish their homework at home after spending several hours at school, which leaves
them with little time for other activities. Students are also put under a lot of mental and
physical stress because they spend so much time on their studies. Some of that stress and
anxiety can be reduced by engaging in physical activity. Additionally, its supports emotional
stability and toughness and also helps in health and physical education.
iv. Self-improvement and character development

Team sports in a structured environment helps develop leadership at sportsmanship. Students


are encouraged to respect themselves and their peers by taking on different responsibilities on
a team and learning new talents. Additionally, it teaches children t empathize with others and
help them get through tough times. Earning praise from coaches or other players also helps to
increase self-esteem. Teammate gestures like handshake, pats on the back, and high-fives help
to foster confidence and togetherness. As a result, and are motivated to advance in their chosen
sport.

v. Increases focus and retention

Students who are entirely engaged in their students will need more than one break each day.
Physical education plays a role in this. When students engage in physical exercise in the
classroom, they can break up the monotony and expend the surplus energy that is feeding their
boredom and preventing them form paying attention in class.

vi. Complete sleep

Planning the amount and timing of regular exercise is crucial rather than attempting to start a
daily exercise routine all at once. Studies have looked into how a few weeks of moderate
exercise can improve teens’ poor sleep quality and duration. How ever it has been
demonstrated that some teenagers sleep duration is reduced by intense activity during the same
period. Adults in good health who frequently exercise can sleep better. Regular, gentle exercise
can improve sleep length, quality and sleep onset time. While severe exercise can only slightly
affect these factors

vii. Bring leadership quality and better commutations

Every child has a propensity to influence others in some way. Members have a variety of
background, attitudes, and experiences; some are outgoing and gregarious, while others are
quiet and unassuming. Numerous effective leaders have been encouraged by mentors to hone
their leadership skills. While some people are born with leadership qualities, research indicates
that anyone, including children can acquire them given the right instruction and access to
decision making power. If one adheres to constructivism, they might assume that young people
can develop their leadership abilities by applying what they already know to novel perspectives
on their world
viii. Development of discipline

Physical education develops not only self-discipline but also support to maintain external
discipline on man. Discipline is an important as the food for life. People with uncontrolled
behaviour deny any kind of restriction and control. But they don’t know that the real freedom
lies in restriction. The pain of restriction itself becomes the pleasure of freedom. Physical
education is a never-failing key to bring discipline. Self-discipline come into action through
different activities and arts and thereby creates interest in life. Well organized life styles lead
man towards living happy and peaceful life

Physical education has many benefits and schools need to offer such type of program. Physical
education helps children stay health and fit, teaches teamwork skills, and can improve
academic performance.

The importance of physical exercise.

i. Weight Management

The most prominent benefit of physical activity is that it helps with weight management,
regular exercise paired with healthy eating habits can help one achieve weight loss or maintain
one ideal weight. Physical activity and exercise increase caloric output contributing to our total
daily energy expenditure.

ii. Bone and muscle health

Exercise makes our body physically stronger because its builds bone and muscle strength.
Stronger muscle contributes to better balance and stability, reducing your risk of falls. Muscles
are also important for our general fitness, allowing us to carry out daily activities like climbing
the stairs or carrying groceries. There is no need to be averse to actively building muscle; a
body builders physique requires years of very specific training and nutrition. Instead, holistic
strength training will ensure that our body’s muscle remain functionally health in years to
come.
iii. Relief of physical pains

Exercise provides rehabilitation for chronic pains such as lover back pain. The right kind of
exercise can be a good form of physiotherapy for stubborn aches or long-term injuries.
However, be sure to consult a specialist to recommend the ideal workout before starting an
exercise or workout.

iv. Protection against health conditions

Beyond making our body physically stronger, exercise also keeps our body healthier by
keeping blood sugar and insulin levels at healthy levels, reducing the risks of developing
chronic diseases. Besides helping with weight management, exercise also keeps obesity-related
diseases such as diabetes and heart diseases

v. Connecting with friends and family members

Exercising as a group creates social connection, allowing us to feel close and connected to
others. This involves feeling loved, cared for, and valued, and it forms the basis of
interpersonal relationships. Socially connecting with others can help us live longer, boost your
mental health, and improve your overall quality of life

vi. Enhance cognitive function.

The are several ways in which exercise is good for the brain. Exercise triggers the release of
neurotrophic factors that can facilitate the growth of brain cells. Moderate-vigorous aerobic
and resistance exercise have shown to improve cognition, processing speed, memory and
executive function such as adaptable thinking, self, and planning. Exercising also provides
protective elements, slowing down your brains ageing and protecting the brain against
degenerative diseases for example, Alzheimer’s diseases.

vii. Boost energy levels

The rush of hormones from a good exercise session is a significant energy booster that helps us
to get through fatigue and stay more focused. Even engaging in short bouts of exercising at 30
minutes intervals across the day can have a significant reeducation in fatigue level and lower
back discomfort as compared to sitting throughout. This boost in energy chronic fatigue or
health conditions that affect energy levels.
viii. Improvement of moods

Along with making us feel more energized, exercise also makes us happier. Exercises increases
various measures of self-esteem and confidence and regulate hormones which improve our
mood. Hormones such as endorphins that are released during exercise evoke positive feelings
and push away negative ones.

Conclusion

In order to live life healthily, it is essential to exercise for mental and physical development.
Thus, exercise is important for overall growth of a person. Exercise helps people to lose weight
and lower the risks of some diseases. When we exercise daily, we, lower the risks of
developing some diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and more.
