FAQ/Q&A
How do I DM?
This is a primer on the different skills you'll need to DM. https://thealexandrian.net/gamemastery-101
"Some ttrpgs have their own structure, like old school D&D with dungeon turns/random encounters and the like.
If you want more structure, there's a lot of them out there for solo and for regular ttrpgs.
Here's an example. Look at structure p 56+. (from The Calypso Compendium)"
"As for playing as the GM, it can be real easy. Just roll to see if a PC/the party would do something. Can be a Wisdom roll, and Idea roll, whatever works with your game
system. Give logical odds. You know there's a trap in the passage. Would the party look for traps? They are fleeing from the Ogre, so they can't. You don't roll , they just
don't have the time to look. Use the rpg rules to determine if they trigger the trap.
Or, you know there is a trap in the right corridor, but the left is safe. They don't have any clue. Roll luck or something similar to see which corridor they go through.
A way to create random events is also good. Let's say they happen on a match of the dice when you roll a d100 for idea and luck. In this case it means the PCs, not the
world, acts in a weird/unexpected way (but still logical). So maybe the party yells to attract monsters so they can get keys/maps from their dead bodies or something. It
depends on the type of PC the party is composed of and if it makes sense. Or if a lone PC in the group do what he wants despite the party's wishes. Fuck that thief for
attracting the goblins just because he didn't want to explore and wanted an easy map. He's not the one who had to fight a horde of ugly green garden gnomes. They
didn't even have a map or any keys!"
