After this Basic Hi-LED product training:
- You will know what type of HI-LED tiles Aluvision offers: Led wall (flat), LED floor tiles (flat LED with glass cover), curved (flexible)
- You will learn the differences between a LED wall, a LED tile, a LED module
- You will learn the main technical features of an Aluvision LED tile/module/wall
- You will know the different type of LED pitches Aluvision offers
- You will know how a HI-LED 55 cabinet and LED tile is constructed
- You will have insight what additional hardware & software set-up is needed
- You will build yourself a LED wall with quick tighteners and you will set up the video content correctly on the LED wall
- You will dismount a LED wall and use the suction cup tool in case a LED tile needs to be replaced

3. Definitions used by Aluvision

LED Single light emitting unit , comprised of RGB (red, green, blue) filter
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor device that emits light when an electric current flows through it
Pixel Smallest unit of a digital image or graphics that can be displayed or manipulated on a screen or other digital display device. The word
"pixel" is short for "picture element".
Pixels are typically in shape and can be any color, depending on the color space used to encode the image. They are arranged in a grid-
like pattern to form a complete image, with each pixel representing a tiny portion of the overall picture.
Pitch Center to center distance between 2 pixels (diodes)
LED tile (display/panel) Consists of 4 LED modules with a specific amount of pixels and from a same type of batch and from a same type of batch, i.e 256x256
pixels (P1.9), 176x176 pixels (P2.5), 192x192 pixels (P2.8), 128x128 (P3.9)
LED wall/LED screen Specific lighting object solution in panel form with LED lighting, to build up walls
A LED wall is always built up with one type of LED cabinet (one type of LED tile batch)
Cabinet (casting panel) Aluminum casing which holds the LED modules
IMD Inner mounting design. Typical arrangement of LED diodes within the LED assembly
SMD Surface mounted device. Specific type of assembly where the LED diodes are mounted directly onto surface of a printed circuit board
(PCB)
GOB Glue on board (protection layer) for vertical wall set-up display. Minimum sales quantity needed
Sending box (controller) Independent device to control multiple LED tiles, that also supports display rotation, for any resolution, for on-site configuration
Receiving card size Refers to the amount of pixels in one cabinet and depends on the Pitch 2.5 mm, 2.8 mm
Rcfg file Receiving card configuration file, also root configuration file, is the software file needed for screen resolution set-up for a LED wall
NCP file An NCP file contains configuration data or settings for controlling the behavior and display parameters of the LED screen. This file
format is specific to certain LED screen control systems, from MX-40 Pro and software applications (Coex VMP) used to manage LED
displays
SEG Silicone edge graphic, is a finishing option for the back of the LED cabinet

Brightness Amount of light a LED puts out, expressed in nits

Nits a unit of measurement that equals one candela per square meter. Candela, in turn, is the unit measurement for light intensity
In other words, a nit is how bright a screen appears to one human eye
Gradient Smooth blending of the Red, Green and Blue color, shading of similar colors, expressed in bits
Calibration The process of aligning the colors of the LED display, set by RGB - red, green, blue- color model
Refresh rate Number of times the display screen is repeatedly displayed by the display screen per second. Unit is Hz (Hertz). The refresh rate is an
important indicator to characterize the stability and non-flickering of the LED display screen. Two common refresh rates for LED
displays are 1920hz regular refresh and 3840HZ high refresh.
Scan rate (static) In static scanning, each LED pixel is controlled individually. This means that each pixel receives its own dedicated signal and can be
updated independently. Static scanning typically results in better image quality and higher refresh rates
During each refresh cycle, the screen controller sends data to for example one-sixteenth (1/16) (P1.9) or 1/24 (P2.5) of the total
number of pixels horizontally
The controller then moves to the next section and updates those pixels, continuing until all 16 sections have been refreshed
Daisy chain principle Method of connecting a series of LED tiles to a LED controller using a cord connection from LED tile to LED tile in a series
Screen resolution Total number of pixels that can be displayed on an LED display. screen resolution is expressed in a width and height measurement
Resolution is played by a media player, which is different from the actual resolution of the video source
Video resolution Number of pixels in the frames of a video. The more pixels, the more video quality. Most used video resolution is 1080p (3840x1080
pixels) and 4K (4096x2160 pixels)
Video frame rate Number of different frames or images used to play the video. It is measured in fps or frames per second, which defines how many
frames or images there would be in the video:
- 30 fps video will have 30 different frames in a second
- 60 fps video will have 60 different frames in a second
Video bitrate Bitrate is a measure of the amount of data transferred over a specific period of time, commonly used to quantify the rate of data
consumption or transmission for digital media, including video. It indicates how much data is being processed or transmitted per unit
of time and is a critical factor in determining video quality, file size, and streaming performance
Field order Refers to the order in which the fields of a video frame are displayed or recorded. The individual alternating lines of a video frame.
(video export settings) Each frame contains all the lines of the image in sequence, from top to bottom. The field order setting for progressive video is usually
set to "Progressive”

3. How to play the video content in the correct resolution?

• Use a media player or a media server (in case of multiple True 4k)
• We recommend a Brightauthor media player and usage of BrightAuthor software for conversion of the video to play on the Brightsign media player
• Free download of BrightAuthor software: link
• Storage capacity SD memory card: depends on the type of media player, up to 500 GB (earlier versions of firmware) - up to 1TB (Firmware version 6.1. 57)
• Check correct type of HDMI or DP cable

4. How to send the video content towards the Hi-LED 55(+)?

Type of Sending box - Golden rules:

(MCTRL controllers) • Use the correct type of sending box, depending on the resolution of your video content and the maximum data load output
(number of LED tiles)
• Type of resolution depends on the type of Novastar sending box and the specs of the media player
• Maximum number of data output ports depends on the type of Novastar controller

• No scaling possible through the Novastar controller

Different brightness on the Hi-led wall screen Possible causes:

- Different grayscale mode & contrast mode: adjust brightness
- Different RCFG files: check the parameters for cabinets with different brightness

- Different firmware: will cause different receiving output method

- Different calibration coefficient: Re-calibrate (see manual p.16)

- Power supply with different output:
o When the power supply output is not strong enough, this will cause LED tile not enough
