GLOBAL WARMING
BY
SIMRAN TAJ
INTRODUCTION
Global warming is the phenomenon of a gradual increase in
the temperature near the earth’s surface .This phenomenon
has been observed over the past one or two centuries .This
change has distributed the climatic pattern of the earth .
However the concept of global warming is quite
controversial but the scientist have provided relevant data in
support of the fact that the temperature of the earth is rising
constantly
CAUSES OF GLOBAL
WARMING
As greenhouse gas emissions blanket the
earth, they trap the sun’s heat. .The leads to
global warming and climate change .The
world is now warming faster than at any point
in recorded history
GENERATING POWER
Generating electricity and heat by burning
fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas
causes a large chunk of global emissions. Most
of the electricity is still produced from fossil
fuels; only about a quarter comes from
wind ,solar,and other renewable sources
MANUFACTURING
GOODS
Manufacturing and industry produce
emissions . Mostly from burning fossil fuels to
produce energy for making things like cement
.iron electronic, plastic, clothes and other
good . Mining and other industrial processes
also release gases
CUTTING DOWN
FOREST
Cutting down forest to create farm or pastures ,
or for other reasons, causes emissions because
when trees are cut ,they release the carbon they
have been storing . Since forests absorb carbon
dioxide , destroying them also limits nature’s
ability to keep emissions out of the atmosphere
USING
TRANSPORTATION

Most cars, trucks, ship, and planes run on fossil

fuels . That makes transportation a major
contributor of greenhouse gases , especially
carbon dioxide emissions . Road vehicles
account for the largest part, but emissions for
ships and planes Continue to grow
PRODUCING FOOD

producing food requires energy to run farm

equipment or fishing boats , usually with fossil fuels
growing crops can also cause emissions, like when
using Fertilizer and manure . Cattle Produce
methane a powerful greenhouse gas . And emissions
also come from packaging and distributing food
POWERING BUILDINGS
Globally, residential and commercial building
consume over half of all electricity .As they
continue to draw on coal ,oil and natural gas
for heating and cooling , they emit significant
quantities of greenhouse gas emissions
EFFECTS OF GLOBAL
WARMING
1. Rise in temperature
2. Threats to the ecosystem
3. Climate change
4. Spread to diseases
5. High mortality rates
6. Loss of natural habitat
RISE IN TEMPERATURE
Earth’s temperature has risen by an average
of 0.11°fahrenheit (0.06°Celsius) Per decade
since 1850 or about 2°F in total .The rate of
warming since 1982 is more than three times
as fast: 0.36°F(0.20°C) per decade
THREATS OF THE
ECOSYSTEM
Global warming has affected the coral reefs that can lead to the loss
of plants and animals lives .Increases in global temperature has the
made fragility of coral reefs even worse
Climate change A serious threat to the planet’s physical
environment that impact plants and animals and can lead to
species extinction
Spread of disease As the global warms, mosquitoes will roam
beyond their current habitats . Shifting the burden of diseases like
malaria, dengue fever , chikungunya and vest nile virus
High mortality rate Due to an increase in floods tsunami and
other natural calamities the average dead toll usually increases .
Also such events Can bring about the spread of diseases that can
hamper human life
LOSS OF NATURAL
HABITAT
Global shift in the climate lead to the loss of
habitate of several plants and animals .In this
case the animals need to migrate from their
natural habitat and many of them even
become extint . This is yet another major
impact of global warming on biodiversity
SOLUTION OF GLOBAL
WARMING
The release of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse
gases into the atmosphere is the major cause of global
warming . It can be reduced by setting a high price of
carbon , Increasing the biofuels production of organic
waste ,use of renewable energy like solar and wind
power , safeguarding forests and improving energy
efficiency and vehicles fuel economy
CONCLUSION OF
GLOBAL WARMING
The scientific evidence show’s that global warming is a threat
to the planet and human – well being . According to the royal
society , human activities are responsible for most of the
observed global warming over the past 50 years . Survey of
scientist have found that 97% to 100% agree that human are
causing recent global warming . The national academies press
also states that Climate change is likely due to human activities
, and that future climate change is inevitabLe
