Course objectives:
The objective of the project component of the MBA programme is to help the student
develop the ability to apply multidisciplinary concepts, tools and techniques to solve
social and organizational problems. The project work in the First semester may be:
A study on any social issue, or
A business plan
Introduction
During the First semester each student of MBA programme of CSJM University shall
undertake a project on social issues or prepare a business plan under the supervision
of an Internal Supervisor to be nominated by Director. Two copies of the Project Report
along with a soft copy will be submitted before the commencement of semester- end
examination. Project report evaluation carrying 100 marks and viva- voce examination
of 50 marks will be conducted by the examiners appointed by the University.
Scope of the Project Report on social issues:
The study on social issues
should expose students to the social problems which may cause
disintegration of society.
should prepare students for their social responsibility by developing their
ability to form thoughtful opinions on social issues.
should train students in responsible social action so as to become
participatory citizens.
Should encourage students to volunteer their time for community
service for betterment of society.
should develop written / communication skills required by a business executive.
Suggestive List of Topics:
Population problems, casteism, untouchability, regionalism, linguism and communalism,
beggary, unemployment, poverty, labour problems, rural problems, problems of
industrialization and urbanization, prostitution, crime, suicide, juvenile delinquency,
youth tensions and student unrest, problems of democracy and other related issues.

Scope of the Business Plan:
A business plan
should set the stage for entrepreneurship
should serve as a guide to the business's operations
should provide concrete, factual evidence showing that the idea for a business is
sound and reasonable and has every chance of success
should objectively evaluate capital requirements
should communicate the company's purpose and vision, describe management
responsibilities, detail personnel requirements, provide an overview of marketing
plans, and evaluate current and future competition in the marketplace

The Report should have a Cover Page, Self-Declaration regarding
originality, Acknowledgements, Executive Summary and Contents
before the main body
Good quality white A4 size executive bond paper should be used for typing
The chapters are to be numbered as Chapter-1, Chapter-2 etc.
