corner, and you stumble upon an even older VHS tape. The label on the tape reads
“Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.” The room feels heavy, as if the
spirits of the past are watching your every move.

The air is heavy with a musty scent, and the flickering candlelight casts eerie shadows on the faded
wallpaper. A large, ornate staircase leads to the upper floors, its banister worn and warped. The silence is
broken only by the occasional gust of wind, which seems to whisper secrets from the past. You find an old
journal, with the beginning of what seems to be the opening chapter from a horror story:
‘October 31st 1986. I stepped into Marion Mansion, not knowing what would happen to me next…’

October 31st, 1986. I stepped into Marion Mansion, not knowing what would happen to me next. The strange
aura enveloped me, as pumpkins grinned ominously. Trick or treat whispers echoed in the air. Spiders scuttled
across the walls as I cautiously explored. Suddenly, a bed rose, revealing a red-eyed king. A clown emerged from
hiding, a surprise that made me scream. Scared twice, the moon cast eerie shadows. In the wind, I heard whispers
of forgotten dreams. A skeleton rattled, its bony fingers grazing my skin. The mansion was alive, determined to
scare me into submission.
3. The Raven
=> Read the beginning of a very famous poem
You step into a vast chamber filled with towering bookshelves that reach towards the ceiling. Cobwebs hang
from the shelves, and the scent of aged paper fills the air. Books seem to whisper as you pass by, their pages
turning on their own. Ghostly apparitions of scholars and readers drift through the aisles, lost in eternal
contemplation. One book in particular draws your attention…
CHALLENGE #3: Using the definitions and the poem below, search the words in the grid and
pick out the longest word in the answers.
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—
Only this and nothing more.”
Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December;
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow;—vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the lost Lenore—
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore—
Nameless here for evermore.
