được chia thành 3 loại:
1. Liên từ kết hợp (coordinating conjunctions):
- Dùng loại liên từ này để nối các từ loại hoặc cụm từ/ nhóm từ cùng một loại, hoặc những mệnh
đề ngang hàng nhau (tính từ với tính từ, danh từ với danh từ …).
- Liên từ thuộc nhóm này gồm có: for(vì), and(và), nor(cũng không), but(nhưng), or(hoặc là),
yet(vậy mà, thế mà), so(vì vậy)
