❖ Chemical level at swimming pool water shall be as follows:

▪ Chlorine level : 1 to 3 ppm

TCCA 90 :

 Trichloroisocyanuric Acid & chemical is used as a disinfecting agent in

swimming pools and fountain water bodies and helps in achieving
crystal clear and clean water.

 The most common chemicals used for purifying the swimming pool
water. Chlorine should be added regularly to keep the water level
between 1- 3 ppm (parts per million).

 It is available in liquid forms, tablet forms or granule form which provides

a long-term effect in keeping the pool water free from Bacteria and
algae. Chlorine is to add in the water to kill the germs. Otherwise,
swimmers can face ear problems, teeth problems skin etc.

It binds to the particles (eg mud, clay) in the water and sinks them to
the bottom for cleaning.

 It is available in gel, liquid, powder or stone form.

SWIMMING POOL WATER TEST

 CHLORINE TEST - Normal level of chlorine in drinking water shall be 4 mg/

litters or 4 ppm. The chlorine level in the swimming pool should be

between 1-3 ppm (parts per million).

 Pool test strips or pool test kits can be used to measure the chlorine level
in swimming pools. This is the quickest and simplest method for testing
chlorine present in the water.
Step 1- Remove the protective cap before use. Press the ON/OFF
button, and immerse the meter into the solution (the solution should not be over
the immersion line)

press the HOLD button.
Step 3 - Take it out of the solution to check the result. Wipe clean the
electrode after using turn off the meter and put on the protective cap.

WATER pH VALUE TEST

 pH is one of the most common water quality test performed. pH is

measure of how acidic / basic water is. The full form of pH is potential of

hydrogen need to be maintained. pH value of swimming pool water

should be 7.2 to 7.6 ppm. pH meter can be used to measure the pH

level.

 pH value of pure water is 7 which is neutral. Less than 7 is indicate

acidic and more than 7 indicate a base.
