2-Day Plan 28/29 September: Fairy Tales and Storytelling
(Lena)
Day 1:
Goal: Introducing basic fairy tale characters, settings, and vocabulary. Begin working on storytelling.
1. Warm-up: Discussion (10 minutes)
• Talk about Fairy Tales:
• "Do you know any fairy tales like Cinderella or Snow White?"
• "Which fairy tale is your favorite? Why do you like it?"
• "Who is your favorite character in that story?"
• "What happens to the princess/hero in your favorite story?"
• Introduce the Topic:
• "Today, we’ll talk about some fairy tale characters like princesses and dragons. Do you
want to create your own fairy tale?"
• Songs ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJqC9Sx118M
• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bDZ8H5KGok
2. Introduce Characters & Settings (15 minutes)
• Showing images of classic fairy tale characters (princess, dragon, knight, wizard) and
settings (castle, forest, enchanted garden).
• Ask:
• "Who is this? (pointing at a princess, knight, etc.)"
• "Where does this character live?"
• "What do you think a wizard does in a fairy tale?"
• "Have you seen a dragon in any stories? What do dragons usually do?"
3. Vocabulary Practice (15 minutes)
Focus on these words:
• Princess
• Dragon
• Knight
• Wizard
• Castle
• Forest
• Magic
• Enchanted garden
Activity 1: Vocabulary introduction
• Show flashcards or images for each word. Ask Lena to repeat the word after you, ensuring she
understands the meaning.
• Example questions: "What is a castle?"
• "Who lives in a castle?"
• "Can you name an animal that breathes fire?"
•
Activity 2: Sentences with new vocabulary
• Help in making simple sentences with each new word. Start with examples:
• “The princess lives in a big castle.”
• “The dragon flies over the forest.”
• “The knight is brave and fights the dragon.”
• “The wizard has a magic wand.”
• Then, encourage her to create Lena her own sentences:
• "Can you make a sentence with ‘castle’?"
• "What would the princess do in the castle?"
• "What does the wizard do with magic?"
4. Story Time (20 minutes)
• Read a Fairy Tale: Choose a simple fairy tale to read aloud (e.g., “The Princess and the Pea” or
“Jack and the Beanstalk”).
Video ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Snuie3-Q77A
• While reading/watching , pause and ask questions like:
• "What do you think will happen next?"
• "How does the princess feel?"
• "What would you do if you were the hero in the story?"
5. Craft (30 minutes)
• Create a Magic Wand: Help Lena make a magic wand using a stick, glitter, paper, and ribbons.
• While making the craft, practice using the new vocabulary:
• "The wizard’s magic wand is powerful," or "With the magic wand, the princess can
make a wish."
• Interactive Activity: After the craft, ask :
• "What will your magic wand do?"
• "Can you tell me a short magic spell?"
6. Wrap-Up (10 minutes)
• Recap: Go over the vocabulary and sentences you practiced. Ask Lena to tell you what a
princess, dragon, knight, or wizard does.
• Preview Next Lesson: Tell her to think about her own fairy tale, and that in the next lesson, she
will use her magic wand in a story.
Day 2:
Goal: Develop storytelling skills and reinforce vocabulary.
1. Warm-Up (10 minutes)
• Review: Briefly review the characters and settings introduced on Day 1. Ask:
• "Do you remember what we made yesterday?"
• "Can you tell me what a princess does in a fairy tale?"
• "What did the wizard do with his magic wand?"
Songs ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJqC9Sx118M
• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bDZ8H5KGok
2. Vocabulary and Sentence Building (15 minutes)
Vocabulary Review:
• Princess
• Dragon
• Knight
• Wizard
• Castle
• Forest
• Magic
• Enchanted garden
Activity 1:
• Show the flashcards or images again and ask her to:
• Match words with images (e.g., match ‘wizard’ to an image of a wizard).
• Describe each character using the new words.
Activity 2: Sentence Building
• Help her form more complex sentences using the vocabulary:
• "The knight lives in the castle and rides a horse."
• "The dragon flies to the enchanted garden."
• Encourage her to make her own sentences:
• "What happens when a princess meets a dragon?"
• "What can the knight do with a sword?"
3. Create a Story (30 minutes)
• Interactive Storytelling: Begin creating her own fairy tale.
• Let her choose:
• Main Character: (e.g., a princess, a brave knight, a clever fox).
• Setting: (e.g., a magical forest, a faraway castle).
• Problem: (e.g., the princess needs to save her friend from a dragon).
• Resolution: Help her think about how to solve the problem with the magic wand.
• Example guiding questions:
• "Who is your hero?"
• "Where does your story take place?"
• "What will happen when the knight meets the dragon?"
• "How can your character solve the problem?"
4. Role-Playing (20 minutes)
• Act out the Story: Ask her to act out the characters she created in her story. Use the magic
wand from Day 1 and let her cast "spells" during the story.
• Questions while role-playing:
• "What does your character do now?"
• "Can you use your magic wand to help the princess?"
Video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Snuie3-Q77A
5. Wrap-Up (5 minutes)
• Recap: Ask her to retell her fairy tale and praise her creativity.
• Goodbye: Let her show off her magic wand and say goodbye, letting her know that she did a
fantastic job creating her own story!
