Literature review on Monster

Hunter Rise

Monster hunter rise is the latest addition to the Monster Hunter series originally developed by
Capcom. With monster Hunter Rise returning to the hand held consoles rather than x-box, ps4/ps5
or even Pc it was released on Nintendo Switch as a way of getting back the original fan base that fell
in love with the fact that you can hunt a flaming T-Rex anywhere, but as the previous entry in the
monster hunter series which was Monster Hunter World and its DLC Monster Hunter Iceborne being
so popular with the western countries where it was the second highest sold game of 2018 on PC and
fifth best seller on the console market.

Monster Hunter Rise was released on Nintendo Switch on 26 March 2021 where it became the
second most sold switch game just falling short of Zelda Breath of the wild, it is also set to be
launched on Pc later in the year.

Monster Hunter Rise is built using C++ and help of unity engine for the game design and backend
requirements and with the help of MAYA for its beautifully animated hero/heroine model as well as
the various different designs of the monster and the surrounding map

But what is Monster Hunter?

Monster Hunter is a long running game series first originating in Japan exclusively on the PlayStation
2 released on 21 September 2004. It is as the name suggests the player is a monster hunter set in
the past in a New world of sorts where the player comes to see that it has be ravaged by various
different monsters and with the help of arsenal of weapons he can chose from the player slays each
and every monster uncovering the hidden truth of this new world.

The player can also use his friends for help as each quest/hunt can have up to 4 players in which
they need to act as a well-oiled machine to take down the target. The team coordination needs to be
precise as well as even if one player falls short in dealing damage or taking heavy hits from the
monster will end up dying which causes hindrance in the hunt.

The main attraction of Monster Hunter has never been the various variety of weapons or the story it
has been the monster the players set out to hunt each having different sizes, speed or abilities. The
monster range from small bird wyverns to battle hardened elder dragons
With each fight the player also can carve out parts form the monster or even capture the monster to
get more bonuses. These parts are then used to create other weapons and armor with the help of
which the player sets out for harder and harder hunts.

Monster Hunter is a type of game where the mettle of every individual hunter is put to the test as
the difficulty of the game is always preset and the game does not like to hold the hands of the player
and guide it through the game rather it lets you become better, faster and make split second
decisions which can help the player.

Weapons in Monster Hunter

Monster Hunter Rise provides the player with option of choosing from the hunter’s arsenal as they
provide the user to choose from 14 different weapon types that are.

1) Great Sword (Daiken)

This massive blade cleaves in a wide arc with terrifying might, and can even be used to
guard in a pinch. The power of a full Charged Slash is overwhelming.

This weapon was first introduced in Monster Hunter 2 but with only being able to do a charged
attack combo but in Monster Hunter 3 generation Great sword gained the ability to K.O.
(knockout) monsters with a side-slap attack and follow up with a slightly more powerful curled
charge attack. The great
sword is weapon for the players who like to take their time but not giving up on TDO (total damage
output). Great sword is the slowest weapon to play with but due the swords massive size the
damage output by the user is much more than other weapons. Great
Swords play style is fit for a player who does not like to run away from a challenge rather stick to
his/her guts and stand their ground and fight the monster.

The combos provided by the great sword aren’t too many but they are sure to get the job done in
the given time
In Monster Hunter Rise the new silk bug moves introduced provide the great sword with more
methods of dealing damage as well as providing much needed mobility to the weapon these new
moves are Power Sheathe (A quick forwards maneuver performed as you sheathe your
weapon. Boosts your attack power for a short period of time) and Hunting Edge (A forward
leaping attack. After landing a hit, you can follow up with a powerful Charged Slash or
Charged Plunging Thrust in mid-air.)

2) Long Sword ( Tachi)

A sharp weapon that charges up the Spirit Gauge as you cut into your prey, and can unleash
powerful Spirit Blade attacks. Also allows for technical dodge and counterattack combat.
This weapon was first introduced in Monster Hunter 2 where it didn’t have many effects rather
relying on the base damage of the weapon rather than the incremental increase in damage it
received in Monster Hunter 3 Generation. Long sword is the of the most popular weapon types by
far as almost 60% of all players who play a Monster Hunter game have used or use the long sword.
The long sword is a technically skilled weapon as the hunter needs to first charge up the spirit meter
by preforming hits on the monster after which he can use the true spirit slash combo which changes
the level of the spirit gauge after successfully performing the true spirit slash combo. The spirit
gauge can be enhanced two more levels(in total three first one is white in colour, second one is
orange in colour and third is red in colour) as the spirit gauge increases so does the damage out of
the user. This weapons is for those players who like to run around the monster while also dealing
massive damage and dodging all the monster attacks. The main use of the long sword is as a cutting
weapon which means after dealing certain amount of damage to a part it can either break the part
of the monster or in the case of the monster’s tail out right cut it off the monster.
In Monster Hunter Rise the new silk bug moves introduced provide the long sword with better
parrying ability as well as to stagger the enemy monster these moves are Serene Pose (Taking a hit
while your weapon is at the ready will swiftly lead into a counterattack) and Soaring kick (Uses a
Wirebug to launch you into a jump kick that, if connects, will trigger a Plunging Thrust. Landing the
Thrust auto-fills your Spirit Gauge for a short period of time.
Press the corresponding button after landing the kick to perform a Spirit Helm Breaker at a cost of
one level of Spirit Gauge)

3) Sword and Shield (Katatetsurugi)

A blade that allows you to attack quickly and up close while evading most incoming blows.
Comes with a shield that can guard AND bludgeon too!
This weapon was first introduced in the very first game of the Monster Hunter franchise where it
heavily relied on the shield for blocking while dealing out small amount of damage with the help of
the sword.
The sword and shield is used mostly by newer players to the Monster Hunter franchise as it provides
the hunter with good damage with the help of the sword and blocking and stagger potential by the
shield. The sword and shield comes with the added bonus of being able to use items that is healing
potions or damage amplifying buffs without even slowing down or even sheathing the sword , this
provides the player to get out of a sticky situation fast and get back into combat .
In Monster Hunter Rise the new silk bug moves introduced give the Sword and Shield the method of
not just sticking as a guarding unit but rather take the fight to the monster itself. The new moves
added are Falling Shadow (A forward leaping attack. A successful hit will lead into a Scaling Slash.
After that, you can follow up with a Falling Bash in mid-air) and Windmill (Uses Iron silk to swing your
blade around. Its initial swing nullifies any monster's attack.)

4) Dual Blades (Futaken)

Blades that deliver an onslaught of slices in rapid succession.
Activate Demon Mode to dance deadly rings around your foes in exchange for stamina.
This weapon was first introduced in the original Monster Hunter where it acted as a brother to the
sword and shield with just the lack of defence but with much more ability to move around the
monster
The dual blades are similar to the sword and shield but rather than having a shield to block the
oncoming attacks it heavily relies on its offence but switching out the shield with another blade. The
dual blades have 3 modes which the player can use to deal damage with each mode giving the user
various amount of combos to perform. The first mode is normal mode (dual blades are held upright
and have no glow) where the user doesn’t have any buff or debuff this mode is mostly used to
weave in and out of problematic places. The second mode is known as Demon mode( the dual
blades are held with a reverse grip and have a red glow) where once the player clicks on the
respective attached button the player gets a wider range of combos but with the downside of being
in this mode causes the player to loose certain amount of stamina per second. By landing hits to a
monster in this mode the user charges up the demon meter and when the demon meter is once full
the player has the ability to shift out of demon mode or run out of stamina causing them to revert
back. The third mode is known as Archdemon mode (the dual blades are held upright and have a red
glow) where once the demon meter is filled the player can go back into this mode as it replaces the
normal mode, this mode is mix of both normal and demon mode being able to perform the combos
of both modes while not having the downside of losing stamina per second. Once the archdemon
modes meter is depleted the player will revert back to the normal mode. This weapon is most fit for
the players who want to stack up damage while being in the face of the monster at the same time.
In Monster Hunter Rise the new silk bug moves introduced provide the Dual blades with even more
number of combos to be performed in the archdeamon and demon mode but keeping the original
play style of the weapon. The new moves added are Shrouded Vault (Hurls you forward in a
designated direction. Getting hit while in motion triggers a spinning attack) and Piercing bind
(Pierces a target with a kunai that detonates after a certain amount of time. Landing further hits
where the kunai is lodged racks up extra damage that scales with each hit.)

5) Lance (Ransu)
A highly defensive weapon whose sturdy shield can withstand fierce attacks while
preserving mobility when guarding.
Great for counterattacks and sharp combos.
This weapon was first introduced in the first Monster Hunter acting as a safeguard to
the rest of the team while poking into the monster at the same time. Lance has an
excellent range from which it can hit the monster as well as while holding guard with
the shield accompanied with it. The lance has the ability of being able to charge at the
monster and hitting everything in its path but the only downside of the Lance is that it
is a very slow paced weapon. This weapon is mostly used by high level players as the
damage output is almost nil and acts as a support type weapon.
In Monster Hunter Rise the new silk bug moves introduced provide the Lance with
extended range by which the player can charge at the enemy while not letting their
guard down and also providing a way by which the Lance can charge up energy which
can be unleased onto the enemy monster. The new moves added are Twin Vine (Jabs
a kunai into the target to get its attention.
Pressing the corresponding buttons while the kunai is still lodged into the target will
launch you towards it while guarding) and Anchor Rage (Attacks absorbed while your
shield is up temporarily boost your attack power. The strength of the boost depends
on the power of the attack absorbed.)

6) Gunlance (Ganransu)
A sturdy lance affixed with a cannon.
Pressure your prey with a bevy of bombardments, then land a super-powerful hit at just the
right time.
The gunlance is basically acts as an elder brother to the lance with it having the same
amount of defence but getting additional offensive power with the help of the hand held
gun which is fitted into the lance. The gunlance doesn’t have much range rather heavily
depends on the player to stay in close to the enemy monster to provide damage through
the various different shelling it has but fortunately for the players gunlance comes
equipped with infinite number of ammo but which have to reloaded once the barrel is
empty. This weapon was first introduced in Monster Hunter 2 where it acted the same way
it does till this date. In Monster Hunter 3 Generation the gunlance got the ability to charge
up and unleash a strong explosive attack, known as Wyvern's Fire. This attack dramatically
reduces Sharpness however and it takes a while to cool down before it can be used again.
This weapon is most fit for the player who like to stand their ground and evade when
necessary while dealing damage to the enemy monster.
In Monster Hunter Rise the new silk bug moves introduced provide the gunlance with gap
closing abilities and to charge up its defence to regenerate its sharpness. These new moves
are Guard Edge (A well-timed guard regenerates your weapon's sharpness.
Can be followed up with various attacks) and Hail Cutter (Perform a Rising Slash and then
an Overhead Smash. Each usage reduces the cool down time for Wyvern's Fire.)

7) Hammer (Hanmā)
A blunt force weapon that hits hard yet doesn't hamper mobility.
A smack to the head may stun enemies. Has powerful charge attacks and a variety of manoeuvres.
The hammer are large, heavy weapons which are capable of dealing the vast amounts of damage in
a single combo. Unlike the previous weapons hammer is not a slicing weapon rather it deals blunt
type/Impact type attack damage which causes the enemy monster to stagger( fall down/knockout ) .
The hammer was first introduced in Monster Hunter where it acted as a charge based weapon with
dealing more and more damage to the enemy monster the more the weapon is charged. The
hammer due to its massive size and weight causes a slower hit and run play style out of the player
with the use of its several moves and combos but mostly shines in knocking out the enemy monster
giving the team the ability to lay in heavy damage to the enemy monster. The hammer is mostly
used to break the head/skulls of the monster by which it increases the KO counter of the enemy
monster and after each KO this counter doubles in size hence the hammer user needs to lay in more
damage to the head of the enemy monster to cause a KO again. This weapon is best fit for players
who like to stay in the face of the enemy monster while charging and weaving in and out of the
fights to charge up the weapon and find opportunities to hit the enemy monster directly in the face.
In Monster Hunter Rise the new silk bug moves introduced provide the Hammer with wider range of
attacks and increasing its vertical range as well, these moves are Impact Crater (Jump straight up and
dish out a devastating rising attack that also hits multiple times on the way down) and Silkbind
Spinning Bludgeon (Unleashes a spinning attack that deals multiple hits while leaping forward.
You can perform this attack from a charged state, or hold down the charge button when the move
starts to charge it up and let rip anytime you want by releasing the button.)

8) Switch Axe (Surasshuakkusu)

Switches between Axe Mode, for fluid mobility and hefty single hits, and Sword Mode, for
quicker strikes. Phial effects activated by the sword persist in axe form.
Switch axe also known as SA for short was first introduced in Monster Hunter 3. The switch axe
has 2 modes the axe mode and the sword mode. The weapon can seamlessly transform from
one mode to another is the user has built up charge. The axe mode provides the user with
greater mobility but dealing less amount of damage this is because this mode is mostly used
when the switch axe runs out of charge but once fully charged the axe mode can be changed
into the sword mode during or after the combo to lay in the damage. The sword mode deals out
huge damage but slows the user down tremendously. In sword mode no matter what the
sharpness of the weapon will gain natural Mind's Eye effect that is it won’t bounce off the hide
of the enemy monster. When in sword mode after landing certain amount of hits on the enemy
monster the sword gauge will fill up and on hit the monster once the gauge is filled it will release
the inbuilt phials (Power Phial, Power Element Phial, Dragon Phial, Poison Phial, Paralysis Phial
and Exhaust Phial) each having different effects but adding a second attack to all the attacks put
out. The sword mode also has the move element discharge where after a short channel with the
sword a blast takes place and who ever caught in the radius get thrown back and damaged.
In Monster Hunter Rise the new silk bug moves introduced provide the switch axe with faster
ways of charging the gauge and to launch themselves at the enemy monster form a range, these
moves are Switch Charger (Uses a Wirebug to launch you forward while quickly regenerating
your Switch Gauge. In addition, the Switch Gauge won't decrease for a short period of time) and
Invincible Gambit (A forward-moving spinning attack. Fortifies the user, making them immune to
flinching or being knocked back by even the fiercest of attacks.)

9) Charge Blade (Chājiakkusu)

A weapon that is both sword and axe. Charge it up in sword mode, then combine sword
and shield into an axe and unleash the energy as a devastating attack. A weapon that is
both sword and axe. Charge it up in sword mode, then combine sword and shield into an
axe and unleash the energy as a devastating attack.

Charge Blade is one of the hardest weapons to master as it is equipped with multiple modes and
having to switch between the modes to charge up phials to deal damage. Charge Blade was first
introduced in Monster Hunter 4, it acts very similar to the Switch Axe having ability to switch
between two different weapon modes. The sword and shield mode the hunter is able to perform
fast and precise strikes onto the enemy monster with the sword while also guarding themselves with
the shield. The Axe Mode boasts superior reach and power with its strikes. By landing multiple
attacks the charge blade gains phial charges. A phial on the hilt indicates when it is possible to
unleash a charge attack by glowing with a yellow light. If the player continues accumulating hits, the
phial will eventually begin glowing red, allowing the hunter to unleash an even stronger charge
attack. These can be stored into its shield to be later either dispensed to deal a burst of damage or
charge up one of the 3 giving mods (sword, shield and axe). When the sword is charged it will double
the output of damage in sword and shield mode. When the shield is charged it gains the ability of
dealing damage to the enemy monster while performing block or parry. When the axe mode is
charged it will double the output of damage in axe mode. Once the opportunity arises to the player
he can unleash all the stored phials with the full element discharge move.
In Monster Hunter Rise the new silk bug moves introduced provide the Switch axe with excellent
range and a new way of charging up the phials, these moves are Morphing Advance (Uses a Wirebug
to launch you forward while your charge blade switches to axe form.
While in motion, monster attacks won't knock you back or stun you.
Can be chained into a variety of attacks after moving) and Counter Peak Performance (Ready your
shield while stretching silk to the ground. Being hit while your shield is readied will fill your phials to
maximum.)

10. Insect glaive (Sōchūkon)

Command insects called Kinsects to absorb essence from your prey and buff yourself.
Vault into the air, kick your foes, and attack from all angles while airborne.

Incest glaive is a double edged rod capable of quick, fluid attacks (like the Long Sword) and allows
the hunter to jump at any time in a pole-vaulting fashion. It also is capable of summoning
a Kinsect and using it to attack monsters. After locking on to a target using the projectiles that the
rod can shoot, the user can freely send their Kinsect to attack the target and drain energy from it,
then call it back after in order to boost the Hunter (in terms of attack, health, speed or defence). The
Kinsect is always found at the right arm of the user if it isn't currently being used to attack.

Aknosom is based off of the Kasa-obake yokai from Japanese folklore, and was made
by combining the yokai with a crane

Aknosom is a Bird Wyvern first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise

Aknosom has the appearance of a crane. It wears a big red and gold parasol
like collar around its neck, and the same colour can be found on its wings and on its intimidating eye
-like head-crest. It has golden eyes and a large beak.
It has long, slender legs and is covered in white scales, some of which develop feathered. Its tail also
has a strange hook-like structure to it. Aknosom has the ability to stand on one leg.

Aknosom is supposed to be a territorial creature who will flash its crest to ward off intruders.

By fanning out its collar, Aknosom can use it as a defensive shield or a bludgeoning weapon. It will
use its collars and head crests to try to frighten opponents. Its beak is sturdy enough to be plunged
into the ground with a lot of force and not get hurt. It may also spit little fireballs that bounce over
the ground, leaving small patches of flames in their wake. It's also capable of rushing at tremendous
speeds and swiping at adversaries with its wings.

 Almudron
Almudron is based off of the Dorotabō from Japanese folklore

Almudron is a giant Leviathan that lives in swamps. A gray-coloured shell covers the dorsal side of its
body as well as its legs, with darker highlights. The shell's neck has two ridges that resemble
Lagiacrus' hood. Four more of these ridges span the length of the body, all the way to the tip of its
tail. Almudron's scaly skin is a mixture of grey, creamy yellow, and pinkish red. It has large, pinkish
scales on its underside. Almudron's head resembles that of a mammalian, with a short nose, red
eyes, and many whisker-like tendrils. Its front legs have large, curved claws with five fingers, while
the claws on its hind legs are smaller. Almudron's greatest distinguishing feature is its huge tail,
which spans about half of the Leviathan's length. It has many feather-like appendages at the end of
its tail that it may use to strike adversaries with mud. Almudron is reported to live deep within the
mountains. However, it has recently been approaching human towns and attacking hunters, maybe
because to the Rampage's effect.
It can attack with mud by swiping its tail and creating a big muck wave. It can also burrow into the
muddy earth and break forth, reaching tremendous heights in the process. Almudron may also build
gigantic mud walls and mud mounds to trap or block off prey and enemies alike. Due to the golden
fluid secreted from the tail, which dissolves soil into a muddy bog, such a feat is possible. Hunters
who become trapped in the golden muck will lose their health.
 Anjanath
Anjanath is based off of a T-Rex

Anjanath is a Brute Wyvern first introduced in Monster Hunter: World.

Anjanath resembles a Tyrannosaurus; it has black and grey fur on its back, which, when combined
with its flesh-toned scales, gives it a vulture-like appearance. Its hide is mostly pink, with a dark coat
covering its back that culminates in a ruff at the neck and leaves the head bald. The monster's lower
jaw has large fangs protruding from it, giving it the appearance of an under bite. Anjanath's huge
jaws are balanced by its thick tail, which is coated with quills on the underside. The monster's
forearms are little in comparison to its formidable hind legs. Anjanath resembles a Tyrannosaurus; it

Anjanath has powerful jaws that allow it to rip opponents apart, as well as a sharp nose for detecting
prey. It can also breathe fire from its lips thanks to an organ in its throat. Anjanath are ruthless
predators who would hunt down and kill anyone who tries to attack them. Anjanath won't let an
opponent get away easily once they've been provoked. Anjanath will breathe heavily and display its
nostrils when angered. It will also flash little fins from its back on occasion. Anjanath's head and legs
are vulnerable to injury, with the legs becoming more vulnerable when fractured. It's also possible to
cut off its tail. Anjanath is in the middle of the food chain in the Ancient Forest. Anjanath has Turf
Wars with all monsters that can only be found in the Ancient Forest, but none with any monsters
that can only be found in the Wildspire Waste. Anjanath will chase down any foe in its path once
angered. It will even pursue hunters into unfamiliar territory, following them without hesitation. This
is also true for the majority of the game's huge creatures.

 Arzuros
The name Arzuros is a combination of two words: "azure", which is a similar colour to
the monster's fur, and Latin word "ursus", which means bear .

Arzuros is a Fanged Beast introduced in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.

Arzuros is known for its ursine body form and turquoise coloured fur. It has an upright hair ridge that
runs parallel to its snout. It has a strong hide on its back, similar to that of a carapace. Hair grows out
of its cheeks and connects to its back, where it makes a trim along the sides. An Arzuros' claws
feature extended, red nails. The wrist and forearm are encased and protected by a strong brace on
each claw. Arzuros has a short, wide tail and massive, thick legs connected to considerably smaller
feet.

Arzuros is armed with two vicious claws that it employs for the majority of its attacks. Its large body
and surprising agility can be used for charge attacks and pinning down prey.

 Barioth
Barioth is a Flying Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter 3.

Barioth is a quadrupedal Flying Wyvern with a sabre-toothed cat's head. Its body is mostly covered
in icy white plates and spikes that run along its spine, neck, and tail. It has two massive, curved
amber-colour tusks on its face. It has deadly spikes along its wings as well as three large claws on its
forelegs, which are longer and more powerful than its back legs. The tail of a Barioth is forked and
spiked.

Barioth is a very aggressive and territorial creature. Any hunter who enters its domain will be
attacked. When it is tired, it will eat Popo or Anteka. Barioth's eyes turn red when he is enraged.
Barioth can move quickly and attack with ferocity, posing a challenge to even the most experienced
hunters. Barioth slides around on the ice with its fangs and claws, making it difficult to keep up with.
It can slide its tail to the side and wield it in a club-like fashion, resulting in the Ice blight status. It has
the ability to use its claws and wings to launch a homing glide attack from the sky on unsuspecting
prey. It can generate a wind blast; Barioth will spit out an icy ball, causing a powerful tornado. If the
hunter is caught in this tornado, the Snowman Status effect will be applied to him. This wind blast,
however, will not be effective while Barioth is tired. Barioth is capable of and will perform a side
jump.

 Barroth
Barroth's name may come from the Spanish word barro, meaning "mud"

Barroth is a Brute Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter 3.

Barroth is a large, bipedal monster of the Brute Wyvern subclass. It is distinguished by the large
crown structure atop its skull that houses its nostrils. Its body is protected from the harsh desert
environment by rigid plates. Barroth has a pair of small red eyes and a mouthful of long, peg-shaped
teeth.

Barroth is capable of smashing through the environment with its massive head like a plough, causing
devastation to any living thing caught in its path. Barroth can nearly fully bury itself in cool mud
during the sweltering desert days since its nostrils are placed on top of its head.

It will roll in dirt and mud from time to time to cool down from the scorching desert heat. Barroth is
gentle by nature, but when disturbed, he becomes highly territorial. It will first let out a warning
roar. If that fails, it will assault indefinitely until the threat is eliminated. It is an insectivore that is
known to assault Altaroth nests and feast on the inhabitants within during arid days.

 Bazelgeuse
Bazelgeuse is based off of a B-52 bomber airplane

Bazelgeuse is a Flying Wyvern first introduced in Monster Hunter: World.

Bazelgeuse is a huge Flying Wyvern with thick, hefty scales that have a bronze shine to them. It has a
huge wingspan and a robust upper body. Its bottom is lined with projecting scales that readily come
off. The monster sometimes reaches a "superheated" condition, causing the spaces between its
scales to flash red hot.

During fighting, Bazelgeuse employs its scales aggressively. It has the ability to dislodge them from
its body at whim and swiftly replace them. Once dislodged, the scales that fall on the field behave
similarly to land mines, exploding when struck by anything. When Bazelgeuse becomes superheated,
the scale explodes rapidly in a couple of seconds, dealing concussive damage to any opponents
around. Bazelgeuse can unleash a short-range jet of fire from its mouth, as well as generate ear-
piercing roars and bellows to disturb its opponent. Its strong, muscular build enables it to tackle and
smash other monsters into submission.

Bazelgeuse, like other apex-level monsters, commands its domain with an iron grip. In order to show
its supremacy, it will become hostile to any hunter or monster that enters its path. Endlessly
aggressive, it will actively seek out targets to combat with and is almost always guaranteed victory.
Bazelgeuse eagerly seeks out other monsters, generally flying in after a hunter has fought a huge
monster. Instead of roaring or landing, it frequently begins engagements with a bombing run assault.
Bazelgeuse is feuding with Deviljho for territory. This can frequently result in a tie, but regardless of
the outcome, being in the middle of one is extremely risky.

 Basarios
Basarios are Flying Wyverns introduced in Monster Hunter.

Gravios's juvenile form is Basarios, a rocky, moss-covered wyvern. It’s hard, stone-like shell may
defend it from other huge wyverns while also acting as good concealment when Basarios partly
buries itself in the earth.

It has the ability to emit either sleeping or toxic gas from its underbelly, as well as a flaming plume
on exceedingly rare occasions. It is also capable of erupting a strong lava beam at times. It can also
shoot fireballs like a Yian Kut-Ku, although it likes to rush at opponents.
It burrows underground while resting or changing locations, showing just its back, giving it the
appearance of a big grey rock. It moves slowly due to its weight, and although it possesses wings, it
seldom utilises them to fly. Even when it does, its weight limits its ability to fly for an extended
period of time.

Basarios charges in a similar fashion to Diablos or Monoblos, although it is slower and cannot turn as
sharply. It is less aggressive than Gravios, the adult version.

 Bishaten
It is possible that Bishaten's name is a mix-matched version of the Shibaten, a
riverbank-dwelling variety of tengu.
Bishaten is a Fanged Beast first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise.

Bishaten is an unusually shaped Fanged Beast. Its body is mostly covered in cream-colored fur, with
blue fur on its limbs and legs. Bishaten, like Kecha Wacha, has patagia on its arms, which are
supported by a single wing finger and covered in cyan-colour feathers, essentially forming wings with
which it may fly around. Its arms have five digits, one of which is the wing finger and the other four
are small fingers with black claws. It also features a thumb that can be moved. Its legs,
on the other hand, contain only three fingers that culminate in identical claws. Bishaten's most
unusual trait is its "fifth limb." Bishaten, like Great Maccao and Somnacanth, has a powerful tail that
can support its own weight. Its tail likewise ends in a "hand" with five "digits." The middle lobe is the
largest, with two lesser lobes on each side. The tail hand is partially coated in hard shells. Bishaten
has a pouch on his belly that he uses to store vast quantities of various fruits. Over the legs is a
lengthy patch of white fur that turns brown at the edges and is shaped like a smaller pair of wings or
a bird tail. Bishaten has an unusual visage, with a huge, bony protrusion between its eyes. Bishaten is
an omnivore with a predilection for fruits. It keeps a significant amount of diverse fruits in its belly
pouch. Bishaten, like Kecha Wacha, is an extremely curious creature who enjoys pulling pranks and
tricks on people and prey alike. Bishaten is a master of acrobatics, capable of whirling its entire body
in a variety of manoeuvres. It can stand on its tail for an extended period of time and use its tail to
attack or toss a fruit at its foes. It can also swing its entire body while firmly holding a surface with its
tail hand. It can also use its wings to fly ahead at opponents. In addition, it can toss fruits from its
belly pouch to harm its opponents if necessary. Using various types of fruit, it is capable of poisoning
and stunning its opponents.
 Chameleos
Chameleos is based off an chameleon

Chameleos is an Elder Dragon introduced in Monster Hunter 2.

Chameleos has a purple and white hide covering its body, and its head terminates in a projecting
horn at the tip of its nose. Its eyes are identical to those of a real chameleon: big and orb-like, with
the ability to control individual eye movement. The tongue's lengthy and elastic length allows it to
grasp and steal objects from afar. It uses its purple wings, which have a greyish white membrane, for
flight and to control the direction of its poison fog. Chameleos' enormous tail resembles a leaf and
has a swirling, curled tip.

Chameleos can be found in tropical and subtropical environments such as the jungle, forest, and
hills. It has been seen in the Swamp on occasion.

Chameleos can disguise itself by refracting light in the mist and so making its body invisible utilising
the electric currents that run through its skin. If its horn is broken and its tail is severed, its
camouflaging ability is lost. Chameleos' breath may generate a thick fog, obstructing visibility and
forming deadly toxic clouds, since he is known for using mist for protection. The extending tongue is
good at taking stuff from hunters, but the Anti-Theft talent might help you avoid this. It can also
spew acid blobs to weaken defences and exhale gas to cause weariness and stamina loss. It can
produce High Pressure wind by fanning its tail.

Chameleos have a restless disposition in fight, making them fairly unpredictable for hunters. It will
constantly try to steal things and poison unsuspecting hunters throughout this strange behaviour. It
is said to be peaceful and rarely engages in war unless absolutely required.

 Diablos
The wyvern's name derives from diablo, which is Spanish for "devil", most likely
referring to the diabolical shape of its horns and tail.

Diablos are Flying Wyverns introduced in Monster Hunter.

Diablos are enormous bipedal wyverns with thick armour plate that covers much of their body. Their
most distinguishing characteristic is a pair of huge, thick bull-like horns that protrude from over their
red eyes. Diablos also has a thick, spiny neck frill and a pair of tusk-like fangs. Their tail has a strong,
studded club at the end that can be used to fend off assailants. Diablos have a massive upper body
with thick, muscular wings and stand on a pair of stocky, wide-set legs.

Diablos can burrow into the ground and move underground, using this ability to surprise
unsuspecting opponents or flee from a harmful situation. They also have the ability to produce a
thunderous roar that will stun most aggressors. Diablos may charge adversaries with their horns at
great speeds, using their muscular legs in conjunction with their massive upper body and head to
maximise the potential for damage.

Diablos are most typically found in arid, dry deserts. The soft, loose dirt makes digging possible,
while the water-rich cactus supply nutrients and hydration. Ultimate Diablos can also be
encountered on the Deserted Island and Everwood in Monster Hunter 3 and 4.

Diablos are herbivores who eat on the desert's numerous cactus. Regardless, they are ferociously
violent and fiercely territorial, and will pursue anything that enters their domain. Diablos are
notorious for using their horns as weapons against assailants, but they will also use them in contests
for territory or mating rights with other Diablos. Diablos usually avoid flying for transportation since
their disproportionally large mass precludes them from flying for lengthy periods of time. Diablos, on
the other hand, will utilise their wings to break out from sand traps.

 Goss Harag
Goss Harag is based off of the Namahage yokai from Japanese folklore.

Goss Harag is a Fanged Beast first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise.

Goss Harag is a huge Fanged Beast that resembles a bear and a Namahage. The majority of its body
is coated in shaggy white and brown fur, with strong, slightly scaly armour covering its face and legs.
This armour is generally a pale blue, but may turn red if Goss Harag becomes enraged. Its head has
two little yellow eyes with tiny horizontal pupils that leave faint yellow streaks in the air when the
beast moves. It also possesses four short, blunted, ice-like horns on top of its head, as well as a
snout that protrudes vertically and has a somewhat leaf-like form (similar to certain kinds of bats).
There are many black, keratinous scutes on its forelegs and hind legs, and the feet each have five
fingers, but their appearance differs greatly between the fore and hind legs. Goss Harag's hind leg
feet resemble those of bears, with tiny toes tipped with little downwards-curving claws, whilst the
forelegs have much longer and less stiff digits, each tipped with a much longer claw than the hind
legs. Goss Harag is capable of both quadrupedal and bipedal mobility; in the former, the beast walks
on its knuckles with its foreleg digits folded in.

Goss Harag has the ability to freeze its own biological fluids by inhaling cold air from its environment.
It will then spew this freezing liquid onto its arms, creating ice blades that it will use in battle to
deadly effect. It may also exert force by shattering the blade from its arm and sending it flying
toward hunters after planting it in the ground. It can also hurl these fluids from its maw at enemies
in an icy blast. Goss Harag is a powerful creature who can send shockwaves through the frozen soil
by slamming his fists into the ground. It can also leap a long distance into the air and pivot to face
hunters in mid-flight.
 Great Baggi
Great Baggi is a Bird Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter 3.

In the dark, its eyes will glow yellow. Great Baggi are mature male Baggi who have established their
own pack. In addition, the Great Baggi is slightly larger than the Great Jaggi.

It has a crest on its head that can be earned in a similar way to Great Jaggi's frill.

It has acquired its own special ability: it can spit a sedative substance that puts its victims or hunters
to sleep. It has also developed the capacity to direct Baggi to surround animals or hunters with a
roar and spit tranquillizing liquid at them.

When in the same region as the hunter, Great Baggi and Great Jaggi are frequently seen to be hostile
towards other boss monsters; they will occasionally stop fighting the hunter to attack other
monsters.

 Great Izuchi
Great Izuchi's mouth is based off the Slit-mouthed woman (Kuchisake-onna)

Great Izuchi is a Bird Wyvern first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise.

Short orange fur covers Great Izuchi's entire body, with patches of white fur on the head, base of the
neck, back, and tail. Cream-colored scales appear beneath the fur and become blue toward the arms
and legs. It has a long, slender snout with cobra-like fangs on the top and bottom jaws, as well as
orange eyes with extremely small pupils. Large grey plating covers its underbelly, with smaller
plating bordering the rear. Three digits on the arms, with the middle finger extended and hook-like.
The tail, which terminates in a bony, scythe-like blade that it mostly employs for attacks, is its most
distinguishing characteristic.

A Bird Wyvern species that always travels in a group of at least three. Even by Bird Wyvern
standards, the Great Izuchi is extremely intelligent and cooperative, as it can command its two
companions, who are the pack's sharpest individuals, to perform numerous combination attacks
alongside it, using their scythe-like tails in combination, simultaneously or consecutively. It's also
incredibly agile, capable of back flipping or swinging its entire body around multiple times. It has the
ability to regurgitate what appear to be rocks and pebbles at its foes, which is also shared by the
smaller Izuchi, however the Great Izuchi can spit far further than an Izuchi.
 Great Wroggi
Great Wroggi is a Bird Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.

The Great Wroggi has a slick salamander-like skin, similar to that of the Iodrome, and, like its close
relatives the Great Jaggi and Great Baggi, is generally followed by a group of smaller kin - in this case,
Wroggi. The delicate, translucent sac-like organ around the neck of a Great Wroggi is its most
noticeable feature. Poison can be seen in the sac before it spews out as a toxic mist due to its
translucence.

 Jyuratodus
Jyuratodus might be named after a genus of extinct lungfish known as Ceratodus.

Jyuratodus are Piscine Wyverns first introduced in Monster Hunter: World.

Jyuratodus resembles a bipedal coelacanth fish and is connected to Lavasioth. It has a long, thick tail,
two dorsal fins, two pectoral fins, two pelvic fins, and two pectoral fins. Jyuratodus, instead of being
covered in hardened lava like Lavasioth, is covered in mud and sludge. The head, body, legs, and tail
of Jyuratodus can all be injured.

To defend itself, Jyuratodus can coat itself in mud for protection and spit a watery slime that can
momentarily capture pursuers. When Jyuratodus swims, it leaves behind solid mud heaps that
hunters can utilise as platforms to avoid being hindered by swamp water. Jyuratodus, like Barroth,
will roll mud around its body to cover it. The mud will protect Jyuratodus' bodily parts from physical
harm while also defending against Thunder, its major elemental weakness.

Jyuratodus and Barroth are known to fight since they share the same muddy habitats. During a Turf
War, Jyuratodus will ambush Barroth from underneath and attempt to constrict and bite the massive
wyvern, only to be forcibly tossed to the ground afterwards, causing both monsters to take damage
and knocking Jyuratodus over for a brief moment. Jyuratodus won't trouble anything inside its
region if left alone, including the Gajau with whom it shares the lower end of the marsh. Jyuratodus,
on the other hand, will become violent and attempt to injure threats if he is disturbed.

 Khezu
Khezu are Flying Wyverns introduced in Monster Hunter.
Khezu are enormous, pale Wyverns with a flabby, rubbery hide similar to that of an amphibian that
they keep perpetually damp. Their light skin reveals a lot of their blood arteries and veins. Their tail
has a unique opening that helps them cling to cave ceilings by bonding to the earth during electrical
strikes. Their mouths have rows of sharp teeth that resemble those of leeches. Instead of claws,
Khezu feet contain suction pad-like toes that help them climb and hang from cave walls and ceilings.

Their eyes have deteriorated significantly as a result of spending most of their lives in the dark, but
they compensate for this with an exceptional sense of smell. A covering of fat keeps them warm and
allows them to spend more time foraging for food. Khezu have an extended neck that permits them
to ambush prey from afar, like as from the ceiling of a cave. Khezu are hermaphrodites, which means
they have both male and female characteristics. They immobilise a species and inject their young,
known as Whelps, to reproduce. The Whelps develop inside their victim until it dies or they are able
to flee. The habitat of a Khezu is frequently found near active sources of water; some sources
believe this is due to the water's ability to transmit electricity into its prey, while others speculate
that the dampness is necessary for Khezu's moist skin. The Swamps and the Frozen Seaway are two
such places.

Although the Khezu live in caves, they leave when they choose or when food becomes scarce inside.
Outside of caves, Khezu are vulnerable to larger Wyverns like Tigrex, but inside caves, Khezu have
the upper hand. They can cling to the ceiling and attack from above, as well as being unaffected by
the dark.

 Kulu-Ya-Ku
Kulu-Ya-Ku is based on the Dodo bird.

Kulu-Ya-Ku are Bird Wyverns first introduced in Monster Hunter: World.

The body shape of Kulu-Ya-Ku is comparable to that of other raptorial Bird Wyverns like
Velocidrome. This creature has light brown scales and a face that looks a lot like a Dodo's. Its head
and arms are covered in feathers. Its tongue is similarly covered in spines. When it comes to hunting,
unlike other raptorial bird wyverns, Kulu-Ya-Ku are exceedingly gentle and calm. They will, however,
fight back if assaulted.

Kulu-Ya-Ku can pick up small pebbles and utilise them to defend itself against intruders. It can also
throw stones at adversaries from a distance or shock them with a jumping smash. They are
frequently seen taking eggs from Monster nests, particularly Rathian nests. Hunters can easily knock
boulders out of the Kulu-Ya-hands Ku's by using Slinger Ammunition. Hunters can also break the rock
by striking it with their weapon many times. The head and arms of Kulu-Ya-Ku can be injured.

Kulu-Ya-Ku gains the ability to dig up and use ore chunks or flint rocks instead of regular rocks when
he reaches Master Rank. Ore chunks do more physical damage and are more likely to shock hunters.
On the other hand, flint rocks may fire on impact, causing damage in a small area. It's unclear what
circumstances influence which rock Kulu-Ya-Ku chooses, given the Bird Wyverns appear to be
capable of picking up all three in all known habitats.
 Kushala Daora
Kushala Daora is based on the European dragon

Kushala Daora are Elder Dragons introduced in Monster Hunter 2.

Kushala Daora is a metallic-skinned dragon. Its massive wings meet at the base of its tail, giving them
an even bigger appearance in comparison to the rest of its body. On either side of its head, two
rearward curling horns mix in with the spikes that line its back. Wind can be seen blowing around its
body. Kushala's nose is slightly reddish, possibly due to rusting.

During fury mode, Kushala Daora has the power to manipulate violent winds, forming a wind barrier
around it. A hunter can be knocked back by the wind barrier, putting them vulnerable to Kushala
Daora's attacks. Except for the head and tail, the hunter finds it difficult to target the animal's body
due to the wind barrier. This wind barrier, however, can be degraded by poisoning it. Kushala can
also amass massive gusts of wind and spit them back at the hunter. It also includes a charged wind
blast that may damage flora, stalactites, and other ground-based destructible.

Kushala Daora can be seen in the Jungle sipping water and eating ore in Area 7 of the Jungle (MHFU).
After becoming rusted, Kushala Daora will shed its skin, yet there are some Rusted Kushala Daora
that haven't lost their skin in a long time. Kushala Daora is an Elder Dragon who is naturally passive
and will only attack if provoked or assaulted. Kushala Daora can be battled in a variety of locations,
with the Snowy Mountains being the most common. It can be found in the jungle and, on rare
instances, the desert. In town, you can fight Rusted Kushala Daora. Kushala roosts in the Elder's
Recess higher up in the New World.

 Lagombi
The name Lagombi is derived from the Greek word for hare, "lagos". The "-mbi" was
added by the localization team as a way to give the name a cuter sound.

Lagombi is a Fanged Beast introduced in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.

Fanged Beast is a big, wombat-like creature. Its ears are long and sensitive, and it has a beak-like
mouth and small red eyes on its face. The belly of a Lagombi is constructed of a low-friction material
and is shaped to slide across the ice like a sled. It wears a thick fur coat to keep warm in its sub-zero
environment. To stay wary of predators, a Lagombi has excellent hearing. Fortunately for hunters,
this makes it susceptible to loud noises like Sonic Bombs (like Yian Kut-Ku). It rams opponents by
launching ice pieces, swiping with its claws, and sliding around on its belly. It moves from one place
to the next on its belly, much like a penguin. Lagombi has two new moves in Monster Hunter 4,
including a jump attack followed by a roll, as well as the ability to toss a block of ice straight up to hit
climbing hunters.

Lagombi can only thrive in snowy regions of the Tundra and Frozen Seaway.

Lagombi is a rather calm monster, but when disturbed or threatened, he will lash out. It feeds on
Bnahabra, indicating that it is an insectivore.

 Magnamalo
Magnamalo's name derives from the Latin word magna, which means "great", and
from the Spanish word malo, which means "bad" or "evil". Therefore, its etymology
indicates that it is a great evil threat, which is why it is known as the Wyvern of Malice

Magnamalo is a Fanged Wyvern first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise. Magnamalo is the face of
Monster Hunter rise as its latest flagship monster

Magnamalo is a massive Fanged Wyvern with a tiger-like appearance. It is mostly made up of purple
and yellow armour plates, with a crimson underbelly. The head has a tigrine snout, two foldable
tusks under its cheekbones, and a big pair of jagged golden horns right beneath its long, thin ears.
The forelegs and hind legs both have four-clawed digits, and each foreleg has a single huge serrated
blade that is folded back and parallel to the leg. Magnamalo's tail is capped by a spear-like tip made
up of three spikes that bend outwards to form a trident shape. A collection of bone blades/spikes
hidden within its back shoot out from its hide whenever it becomes agitated.

Magnamalo is a crafty beast that assaults with a never-ending barrage of attacks. It can launch
assaults in rapid succession, even hitting before other attacks have finished, giving its opponents
little time to react. Magnamalo can emit enigmatic purple flames called as "Hellfire" from its lips,
tail, back, and forelegs. Despite its small, it has the ability to leap a great distance. It can unleash
multiple fireballs from its tail while recoiling from a leap before leaping again. Magnamalo also
employs its slender, pointed tail for a variety of assaults, including somersaulting while striking with
the blades of its tail-tip like a whip. All of its golden carapaces have the ability to erect. When
Magnamalo flicks its tail into them, large purple clouds of gas are released, which detonate.

Magnamalo is a ruthless monster hunter who is equally hostile to monsters and hunters. It has been
seen attacking and carrying smaller monsters like Tobi-Kadachi and Arzuros in its jaws on several
occasions. When the Flying Wyvern sought to leave during a battle with Rathalos, Magnamalo
immediately climbed onto its back. Magnamalo drove both of them into a dive after some struggle,
bringing itself and Rathalos falling into the current Hunter in a flaming explosion. Magnamalo
appeared to be uninjured when the battered Rathalos were blasted away. Magnamalo, as a result, is
powerful enough to stand up to Elder Dragons like Teostra. Magnamalo emerges in Kamura Village
every 50 years during the Rampage to feast on the myriad monsters that appear. The Wyvern grows
stronger by feeding on monsters. Magnamalo nearly devastated the village 50 years ago, thus it is
feared by the villagers.

 Mizutsune
Mizutsune's name comes from a combination of the Japanese words for water, "mizu”,
and fox, "kitsune”.

Similarly, it's Japanese name, Tamamitsune, is a portmanteau of the Japanese words

for jewel, "tama" water, "mizu and fox, "kitsune

-Monster Hunter Rise

Mistune is a Leviathan first introduced in Monster Hunter Generations.

Mizutsune, like most Leviathans, has a long, slender body. It is, however, one of the few Leviathans
with fur on its body. Its breast, underside, legs, and tail are all covered in a dark purple fur. It has
light-coloured scales that mimic those of a fish. It has a large snout and a magnificent array of fin-like
appendages on its head. These fins are pink with yellow markings and can be observed on the back
and tail of the animal. Mizutsune's feet are considered to be unique among Leviathans, allowing it to
walk quickly on land. Mizutsune has the ability to breathe bubbles at its foes as well as generate
them in its fur. Bubble blight is caused by these bubbles, which makes mobility difficult. Like
Plesioth, it can likewise discharge pressurised water jets from its mouth. Mizutsune has been spotted
in the Primal Forest and Misty Peaks.

Mizutsune isn't very hostile to hunters. Males, on the other hand, have been known to go insane
during mating season, attacking anyone who crosses their path. Hunters are asked to hunt them
because of their fury.

 Nargacuga
Nargacuga are Flying Wyverns introduced in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

It bears the look and manner of a predatory black panther, with black scales, black fur, and terrifying
red eyes. Because of its dark, savage appearance, it appears to be mostly a nocturnal predator. This
wyvern has been seen in the Great Forest at night and during the day, as well as the Jungle and the
Old Swamp. When Nargacuga is in Rage Mode, its eyes flare blazing red and create a trail of reddish
lines. It also has enormous spikes on its tail that may be hurled and combined with its strikes for
deadly hits. Nargacuga's tail is prehensile because its vertebrae and tail muscles are incredibly
flexible. Its most powerful weapon is its tail. The scales at the end of the tail can also be shook to
make rattlesnake-like rattling sounds. They are taken aback by the shock of sound (Sonic Bombs,
Barrel Bombs, and so on), which causes them to go into fury mode as soon as they recover.

Nargacuga can attack with nearly every part of its body, particularly its bladed wings and spiked tail.
Its head, like Tigrex's, can be utilised for biting. Its bladed wings are employed almost continuously
throughout the combat and deal a lot of damage. Its tail tip is exceedingly deadly, and can be sliced
with a white bar of sharpness or above. Its tail spikes will protrude until it gets out of Rage Mode
(Although they will protrude when it uses tail slams and it shoots tail spikes). Nargacuga's muscles
are also exceptionally strong, allowing it to jump large distances and tall heights at a quick rate.

Nargacuga is a cautious and careful creature. It has a fairly simple time sneaking up on a hunter.
Nargacuga has adapted to living in dark environments. It hides in high trees that are difficult to
reach, if not impossible to reach, so hunters can't catch it by surprise and capture it. Due to its
inherent senses, Nargacuga will wake up when hunters are standing in front of the tree.

Nargacuga is mostly found in the Great Forest, but there are tasks that require Nargacuga to be
located in the Old Swamp, Old Jungle, and Jungle. Nargacuga can be found in the Misty Peaks in
Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. Nargacuga can also be found in the Jurassic Frontier in Monster
Hunter Generations. They can now be found in the Ancient Forest, the Coral Highlands, and the
Guiding Lands in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

 Pukei-Pukei
Bird wyvern known to possess poisonous toxins in its body. It's been spotted storing
scatternuts in its mouth or tail, coating them with poison and spitting them out at
threats

-Monster Hunter Rise

Bird Wyvern first introduced in Monster Hunter world.

Pukei-Pukei is a chameleon-like creature with limited colour-shifting abilities and frog-like eyes. It
has two wings and is covered in green, feather-like scales that vary in colour across its body, with the
exception of its orange underside. It has white osteoderm-like protrusions on its underside. Pukei-
Pukei has bright feathers around its neck and wings, despite its reptile nature. Pukei-Pukei was
inspired by flowers and featured an accordion as one of its design principles. Pukei-Pukei is noted for
storing food properties in its mouth and tail before combining them with its own venom. It can then
protect itself by spewing poison from its lips and tail. This poison changes based on what it ate
before. When Pukei-Pukei consumes a Scatternut, for example, its poison gains similar startling
properties. Hunters can use Scatternuts to keep Pukei-Pukei from eating nuts by dropping them on
it. According to stories, Pukei-Pukei bullies weaker monsters but cowers in front of bigger, stronger
monsters. It's prone to fleeing at the first sight of danger, so take advantage of that. The Pukei-head
Pukei's and wing feathers become red when furious. When it is tired, the feathers on its head and
wings fade, and its eyes narrow. The head, back, and wings of Pukei-Pukei can be injured, and its tail
can be amputated.
 Rajang
Ultra-aggressive creature that is rarely sighted and seldom survived. Survivors report
it exhibits a strange attack. The Rajang is said to be a loner, and this isolated life has
made it difficult to pin down its territorial leanings.

-Monster Hunter Rise

Rajang is a Fanged Beast introduced in Monster Hunter 2.

Rajang's appearance and movement are quite similar to that of the Blangonga, and it even borrows
some of its attacks. Rajang's bigger muscles, massive horns, hairy tail tip, and ability to perform
electricity-based attacks are noticeable contrasts.
Rajang is exceedingly ferocious, unyielding, and aggressive, as well as fiercely territorial.
The Rajang's most prominent skill is to fire lightning from its mouth as a blast or a beam. Their blend
of speed, ferocity, and strength has earned them a cult following. They're also known for their
dramatic Rage Mode, in which much of their front body's fur rises and turns gold.
Rajang can be found in a wide range of settings, including the Volcano, Snowy Mountains, and
Gorge. Due of their solitary wandering existence, they are rarely spotted in the wild.

 Rakna-Kadaki
Its Japanese name, Yatsukadaki, is a reference to one of Tsuchigumo alternate names,
specifically yatsukahagi. The English name, Rakna-Kadaki, is romanized from the
Japanese one, added with a corruption of the English word arachnid.

-Monster Hunter Rise

Rakna-Kadaki is a Temnoceran first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise.

Temnocerans with sharp curved spikes are known as Rakna-Kadaki. Their carapace is purple, and
they have multiple big spikes on their legs and abdomen from which they hang their web. Rakna-
Kadaki, unlike Nerscylla, have six legs: two pairs of walking legs and a pair of purplish-red, blunt
pedipalps that can extend to over three times their length, and a pair of purplish-red, blunt
pedipalps that can extend to over three times their length. Rakna-most Kadaki's unusual feature,
though, is its "neck." It possesses a long, extended neck that may be "retracted" back on top of the
thorax, similar to pelican spiders. It has eight yellow eyes on its head, as well as two sets of
chelicerae on its jaw. Rachnoid, its offspring, resembles a ball of silk with legs, pedipalps, and spikes
protruding from the ball.
Rakna-Kadaki, unlike other spiders and Nerscylla, can spit silk from their mouth and can spit multiple
strands at the same time. This silk is used to bind their prey in a web before killing them. They can
also spit a jet of scorching gas from their mouth and expel the same gas from their bodies.
Rakna-Kadaki women usually wear their silk on their bodies to give the impression of a white gown.
They also keep their young with them at all times and can send them out on coordinated attacks like
spitting out globs of silk or drawing their mother in with their own silk.

Rakna-Kadaki can enter two states, but only one of them is free.
 The state in which Rakna-Kadaki wears its silk on its legs is known as the Gown State. When the
silk on two of the four walking legs is removed, the silk on the other legs is likewise removed,
and the Rakna-Kadaki collapses for a second before Rachnoid falls off and digs away. Rakna-
Kadaki always begins the quest in this state, and when the abdomen silk in the Incubating State
is broken, it will immediately resume this state by attaching its silk to the legs after recovering
from the collapse.

 Rakna-abdomen Kadaki's is wrapped into a giant ball of silk in the incubating state, which it
commences immediately after recovering from the collapse when the gown is broken. Rakna-
Kadaki will try to smash its adversaries with its abdomen in this state. In this state, however, the
abdomen becomes a major weak spot. The silk ball will break apart if enough damage is done to
the midsection, causing Rakna-Kadaki to fall and expose its head for several seconds. Rachnoid
will always reproduce, and Rakna-Kadaki will enter the Gown State, even if the abdomen silk is
broken.

 Rathalos
The apex monster of the Ancient Forest, also known as the "King of the Skies." A
terrible wyvern that descends upon invaders, attacking with poison claws and fiery
breath.

-Monster Hunter Rise

Rathalos are male Flying Wyverns introduced in Monster Hunter. Having appeared in every single
Monster Hunter game in the series, including spin-offs, Rathalos are considered an icon of
the Monster Hunter series.
Rathalos are bipedal wyverns with a spiky, armoured hide that covers their entire body. Its exterior
shell is brighter and more brilliant than that of the Rathian, their female counterpart. It's mostly
brilliant red with black lines all over. Rathalos, like Rathians, have a flame sac that they employ to
fire lethal flaming projectiles from their mouth. The deadly talons on their feet have been known to
inflict poisoned fatal wounds on larger prey. They also have a hefty spiked club at the end of their
long, thick tail. Rathalos have intricate patterns on their wing membranes, which are likely utilised to
attract possible mates.
Rathalos are skilled flyers who are prone to hunting from the air. They may inflict poisonous wounds
with their talons or burn animals with flaming missiles by launching a surprise aerial attack. Rathalos
are still powerful opponents on the ground. They can chase down prey from afar or inflict blunt-
force injury with their clubbed tail, thanks to their muscular legs. They are also known to utilise their
keen fangs to bite at adversaries if they are close enough. Some Rathalos can stay in the air for a
short time and fire a "few" fireballs before crashing to the earth.
Rathalos are violent against intruders because they are territorial monsters. Any monster that poses
a threat to their homeland will be chased away or killed. Rathalos will pursue victims from the air
before swooping in for the kill when hunting. Once they've brought down their prey, they'll take it
away to eat it in peace, away from scavengers and other enormous monsters who could try to steal
the kill.
Rathalos have been seen in a variety of settings, ranging from temperate forests and hills to the
scorching heat of a volcano. They will fly far and wide as a master of flight in quest of prey in the air.
Along with Nargacuga, Rathalos is the Ancient Forest's apex predator.

 Rathian
Wyverns known as the "Queens of the Land." Terrestrial predators, they overpower
prey with their venomous tails and powerful legs.

-Monster Hunter Rise

Rathian are female Flying Wyverns introduced in Monster Hunter.

Rathian is a medium-sized true flying wyvern with a similar appearance to Rathalos, her male
counterpart. In contrast to the Rathalos' vivid red, her hide is a drab, muted green, and her lower
mandible has a long, jutting chin spike. Her top back and wingtips are covered in a moss-like fur not
found on Rathalos, and her clubbed tail, while lacking bony spikes, is adorned with sharp and very
toxic needles that she may employ to poison adversaries upon contact.
Rathian, like her mate, has the ability to shoot fiery darts from her lips. She is noticeably more skilled
with this weapon, since she is frequently seen firing numerous blasts at once. She may also charge
up and release a more powerful fire blast that can ignite a large area of ground in front of her. Even
if her tail is cut off, she can use the venomous barbs on her tail club to inflict blunt-force, toxic
wounds on adversaries. Her muscular legs enable her to run at fast speeds, allowing her to
effortlessly pursue most prey. Her vision is as acute as the Rathalos', therefore Flash Bombs are
essential in warfare. Rathian is very protective of her territory, preferring to patrol from the ground
while her Rathalos partner patrols from the air. When she is in close proximity to her nest and
young, she will become quite aggressive to prospective threats. Rathian and Rathalos are always on
the lookout for hunters carrying their eggs.
Rathians can live in practically any environment, but they prefer to nest in places with a constant
temperature. As a result, she's been spotted in a wide range of locations, including the Jungle, Sandy
Plains, and Primal Forest.

 Royal Ludroth
Larger than regular Ludroth, Royal Ludroth use their sponge-like mane to absorb water
and keep from drying out on land. Once the sponge loses moisture, they will seek out
water to recover. They also spew mucus to trip their prey.

-Monster Hunter Rise

Royal Ludroth is a Leviathan introduced in Monster Hunter 3.

It has a huge, spongy yellow mane and a crown-like crest made up of many finger-like appendages
capped with black spikes. The body of the Royal Ludroth is long and serpentine, with four squat
limbs. Its hind legs are paddle-shaped for swimming, but its front legs are more muscular, with
developed digits that finish in long black claws. In place of teeth, its jaws are lined with shear-like
plates. Royal Ludroth can collect gallons of water with its huge, absorbent mane, which it uses in its
many water-based defences. It can spit mucus-based globules at attackers, and it may drive water
out of the mane at rapid velocities, blasting nearby enemies back. They have excellent swimming
skills and are powerful hunters in water.
Royal Ludroth, as the alpha male, will frequently be accompanied by a harem of females. It is a
vicious beast that will attack anything that threatens it or its clan.

 Somnacanth
Its English name, Somnacanth, seems to come from the Latin word somna meaning to
fall asleep and -canth meaning "spine".

-Monster Hunter Rise

Somnacanth is a Leviathan first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise.

Somnacanth is a Leviathan with a physiology that is unlike any other. Large yellowish scales cover its
body, fading to white on the underside. It has three digits on its front feet, each of which ends in a
long, curved black claw. It has four digits on its back feet, which finish in shorter claws. Each of its
front legs contains fins. It has a frighteningly humanoid appearance and a short face. A pair of huge
purple horns protrude over its eyes, with a pair of smaller knob-like protrusions in front of them.
Three pairs of little purple fins adorn the side of its head, with a large crest-like fin on top.
Purple fins also appear at the top of its tail, forming a crescent at the tip. It cracks apart shells with a
hard pad on its abdomen that has a taiko drum-like pattern. It also has bioluminescent spots around
its eyes, in the mouth, on the seams of the throat, and on the underside of the tail base.
Swimming on its back is a common sight for Somnacanth. It has the ability to stand on its tail. It is a
very territorial critter that will not tolerate trespassers and can be rather hostile.
Somnacanth may make a sleep-inducing powder in its throat and spit it out via its mouth. It will
utilise this opportunity to strike at its prey or adversary, similar to other monsters that can put
creatures to sleep. This powder can be exhaled as a long-ranged, sweeping cone or a huge cloud that
covers the entire area. It has the ability to leap into the air and slam into its victim. It can also fire a
quick succession of dart-like quills. For a few seconds, the quills linger on the ground. The darts are
launched from the crest's tip.
Somnacanth has a habit of standing on its tail during combat, making it difficult to reach its head.

It, like otters, can crack open shells with its hard belly while reclining on its back. When broken open,
these shells produce a number of effects, including a blast that covers the hunter in blast powder, a
directing flash, and even a healing mist that cures adjacent hunters.

 Teostra
Brutal elder dragons wreathed in flames that spew blazing fire. Teostra are of such a
fierce and deadly nature that the Guild closely monitors their movements

-Monster Hunter Rise

Teostra is an Elder Dragon introduced in Monster Hunter 2.

Teostra is a fiery-coloured dragon with leonine traits. It has a thick mane, large fangs, and a pair of
curved backward horns. It has fur on its wings and a clump of fur at the end of its tail. It is Lunastra's
male counterpart.
Charges, bites, tail swipes, claw swipes, and dive bombs are some of Teostra's fundamental physical
attacks. The true danger, though, comes from two sources. Teostra has the ability to breathe huge
flamethrower-like jets of fire and create an aura of flame about herself that will burn anyone who
gets too close. Teostra also has massive amounts of explosive powder made from its own scales,
which it can use to create sparks and mass explosions with just a gnash of its teeth. It can even cover
itself in the powder to help spread it more easily, or ignite it all at once for a massive explosive
known as the Supernova.
Teostra can cause Fire blight by engulfing herself in flames. When agitated, it may also heat up
portions of ground to the point where walking on them causes Fire blight.
Teostra is a monster with a lot of aggression. It will exhibit power over anything it comes across.
Unlike Lunastra, who usually provides warnings to leave its territory, Teostra will attack intruders
viciously until they die, even driving them beyond of its typical territory. Although elder Teostra
specimens have been seen to be noticeably calmer, it will only accept intruders in their territory for
a limited time. If Lunastra is present in the same map as Teostra, they are known to work together,
even having an interaction known as "Bonding."
This monster prefers scorching environments like the Desert and the Volcano, but it has been known
to travel into the Swamp and the Town as well. Teostra has also taken up residence in the Elder's
Recess' fiery reaches.

 Tetranadon
Tetranadon is based off of the Kappa yokai from Japanese folklore

-Monster Hunter Rise

Tetranadon is an Amphibian first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise.

Tetranadon is an Amphibian having a turtle-like shell on its back and an inflated belly. Its belly has
the ability to inflate to the point of doubling the size of its original body. On its head, front legs, shell,
and tail, it possesses algae-like fur. It possesses webbed feet and a toothless platypus-like beak. It
has orange eyes with a horizontal pupil, like do other amphibians. It also has a crest on its head that
looks remarkably similar to the fabled Kappa's head dish. It walks on all fours when its belly isn't
swollen; if enough trash is consumed, however, its belly inflates to extraordinary proportions, and it
begins standing on its hind legs.

Tetranadon and Arzuros have a history of fighting. During this combat, Tetranadon have been
observed trying to devour an Arzuros, but the stocky Fanged Beasts are too difficult for the greedy
Amphibians to swallow.

Tetranadon are noted for swallowing vast amounts of gravel, causing their stomachs to swell to
tremendous dimensions. Tetranadon become sluggish when obese, yet their attacks become
stronger, capable of smashing earth with a single stomp. In this condition, the Tetranadon's assaults
are described as "sumo-like." Surprisingly, even with their bellies inflated, they can jump high in the
air, causing a big quake when they land. They can be knocked out of the swollen state if they take
enough damage, but they will be susceptible for a few seconds. When swollen, they may also shoot
water globules from their mouth and lift a boulder.

 Thunder Serpent Narwa

An elder dragon and Wind Serpent Ibushi's "queen." Its thunder sacs glow with
accumulated electrical charge; it is thought that these organs therefore generate the
powerful magnetic field that lifts the creature and anything around it high into the air

-Monster Hunter Rise

Thunder Serpent Narwa is an Elder Dragon first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise.
Narwa is the female of an elder dragon species that includes the Wind Serpent Ibushi and itself. This
species has a large, leviathan-like body with small, stubby hind legs and a long tail, similar to Amatsu
(but the Serpent's legs are more paddle or fin-like). This species likewise has double jaws, with the
lower outer jaw splitting and both inner jaws splitting. Multiple sacs, notably the forelegs, back,
chest, tail tip, and, in the case of Narwa, in-between the hind legs, exist on this species and have
varying qualities according on the gender.
Narwa, as the species' female, has several characteristics that distinguish it from Ibushi, most
notably the numerous golden and orange tendrils that reach from the back of the head to the tail.
On the head, it bears two huge, backward-facing horns. There are a lot of tiny teeth in the mouth.
Narwa has a massive golden sac between his hind legs that Ibushi lacks, and purple electrical organs
on his head, chest, back, forelegs, and tail tips that emit electromagnetic force that raises the
serpent into the air.
Narwa is likewise noticeably larger than her male counterpart.
Prior to its discovery, little was known about Narwa. The guild was able to track down Narwa's
whereabouts while she awaited her "king" because to Minoto's resonation with the Thunder
Serpent. Narwa and the Wind Serpent Ibushi appear every fifty years to mate, and while Ibushi
wanders around numerous locations, Narwa appears to wait in a position she prefers until Ibushi is
able to locate her. However, her presence and electromagnetic talents induce other monsters to go
insane, resulting in a Rampage event that occurs frequently in Kamura Village during the Serpent's
mating ritual.
Narwa, like Ibushi, have odd habits in which they levitate upside down in the air. The
electromagnetic energy produced by the thunder sacs on their bodies enables them to perform such
feats. They may also fire many purple electricity beams from the thunder sac on their belly or the
centre of the ring formed by their entire body. Narwa may also use their purple thunder sacs to
create golden balls or rings of electricity. Multiple of Narwa's thunder attacks will force several
metal-rich rock platforms to float up from the ground, typically accompanied by siege weapons
(most likely due to the metal components). Narwa may release a tremendous energy beam followed
by a gigantic electromagnetic pulse that fills the entire area and delivers massive damage when fully
agitated, however this can be easily avoided or interrupted if you deal enough damage to her in
time.
Narwa, like Ibushi, communicates and aids in finding each other using an unknown manner, possibly
some form of electromagnetic radiation. Some Wyverns, who are claimed to have strong ties to
nature, are able to pick up this signal and translate it into a language that can be understood, as
seen by Minoto's gradual ability to fully Resonate with Narwa, allowing her to pinpoint her
whereabouts. It's unclear whether the Dragon is aware of this. The Resonating Wyvern’s eyes turn a
dazzling golden colour during the Resonation. This occurrence, on the other hand, has yet to be
explained. Narwa appears to build the nest when it meets its Ibushi mate, while Ibushi defends the
location. After that, Narwa begins to eat Ibushi's bioenergy in order to ostensibly fertilise her eggs.
However, it's unclear if this is a planned event or a last-ditch effort to protect their nest if Ibushi fails
to do so. Narwa kills Ibushi during their mating ritual, however it's unclear if this is intended, as the
one time the mating was seen with an Ibushi who was close to death. Narwa becomes Narwa the All
mother as a result of swallowing Ibushi, obtaining Ibushi's dominion over wind.

 Narwa the Allmother

Having absorbed the life force of her "king", Narwa has transformed and become
imbued with new power. She now possesses Ibushi's mastery over wind as well as her
own control over thunder, and lusts for utter annihilation .

Narwa the Allmother is a Variant of Thunder Serpent Narwa introduced in Monster Hunter Rise.

Narwa the Allmother obtains eight gold orbs in her belly thunder sac after obtaining this form. Her
thunder sacs and tails lengthen and turn a vibrant purple colour, while her eyes switch between
yellow and red. Her golden skin turns a dark purple colour.
Narwa the Allmother, like her regular form and her mate, is largely floating in the air upside-down.
Serpent of Thunder Narwa achieves the Allmother state by swallowing the life force of Wind Serpent
Ibushi. This enables Narwa to harness the power of the wind while also increasing her control over
electricity.
Several essential attacks from Narwa the All mother’s regular form remain, such as summoning balls
and rings of electricity, but they are stronger, faster, and have a larger range. She now has attacks
that are comparable to those of her mate, such as producing wind balls and summoning violent gales
to draw in or blast away hunters. She can raise Dragonators from the earth and make them spin in
circles, as well as use her wind power to attract hunters to the arena's centre. She will obtain various
new attacks if enough damage has been given to her, such as reorienting her body so that she is
right-side up and dashing across the arena while clawing at the ground.
