In the Silence
When you lived a life that was hidden in the shadows a little while.
I look for signs, but now it is only me, myself.
Your laughter dies out a bit too quickly.
Like words that are shed beneath the lunar disc of a full moon.
Letters – You were the pillar I leaned upon You were the pillar I leaned upon.
Now I am in the shadows: you have left me.
The world is empty as it becomes twilight.
Since you’ve disappeared into the realms of sleep forever.
The hours of many hours were few, but the hours’ flight was fast.
You were my guide post, my steady drift.
But now we are stopped with a hush that seems to envelop all around.
A vacuum: a chair left behind by one’s father.
I can still sense that it’s you in the whisper of the breeze.
In the twinkle of the twinkling stars at night.
But I’d trade the heavens, the moon, the sun,
For one more embrace — just one more greeting.
Even though you are gone sometimes it feels like you are still around.
You are part of me, like a compass that accompanies me.
In each tear, in each prayer,
With every step, I feel your love over there.
