TRAVEL

  about travel.

It is said that travelling is the only thing you can spend your money on that actually
makes you richer. That's something I completely believe! It's one of the best things
you can do with your time in my opinion. Could any of you imagine your life without
travelling? It would be very dull I'm sure of it! I think it's the spice of life. I'm 68 years
old now and hav'e been travelling for the past 35 years and have no intention of
   PERSON B
Talking about the best way to travel, it has to be by ferry. It's one of the most soothing
modes of transport if you ask me. Especially when the weather is fine. I would
recommend the Holyhead to Roscoff crossing on a fine summer's day. There's a
crossing every 2nd day at 11 a.m and it only takes 5 hours, it's perfect if you want to
take your car and explore France a bit. I'd book early if I were you as it's a popular
time of year and seats tend to sell out.
 pERSON C
It's never been a better time to travel, it's so cheap these days compared to what
it was in the paS t , 1 mean, the world is definitely a smaller place now. Thanks to
budget airlines making flights cheaper, people all over the world have access to
affordable flights to anywhere. And it takes hardly any time at all to go from one place
to another. It's really opened up a whole new world for us. People should definitely
take advantage and get out and about more, explore this beautiful world we live in!
  PERSON D
some of the best trips I've ever done have been in my home country, I'm proud to say
it. I'm lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, so why
not explore it? Taking a road trip is the best way to unwind in the summer months, a
few essentials and Google maps and off we go and take in the sights. I think people
splash out far too much on these exotic destinations when they have everything right
  here on their doorstep.

  ALEGENDARY MUSIC VENUE
        0. The Hac;ienda was a nightclub and music venue in Manchester, England,
which was famous in the 1980s and 1990s. The Ha~ienda opened in 1982, and
despite considerable and persistent financial troubles survived until 1997-
the club was mainly supported by record sales from the British music group
New Order. The Hac;ienda is mainly associated with the rise of acid house and
       rave music.
1.The former warehouse occupied by the club was at 11-13, Whitworth Street
West on the south side of the Rochdale Canal. The front of the building was
curved and built of red brick. Before it was turned into a club, The Hac;ienda
_yvas a yacht builder's shop and warehouse where alt the parts required to build
       a boat were stored.
 2. The upstairs area of the club consisted of a stage, dance area, bar,
cloakroom, cafeteria area and balcony with a DJ booth. Downstairs were three
cocktail bar which were all named after notorious British spies from the 1970s.
From 1995 onwards the lower cellar areas of the venue were converted to
                       '
create The 5th Man, which was a smaller music venue.
 3. The name comes from the slogan: "The Hacienda Must Be Built", from the
book Formulary for a New Urbanism by Ivan Chtcheglov. A hacienda is a large
homestead in a ranch or estate usually in places where Colonial Spanish
culture has had architectural influence. Even though the cedilla is not used in
Spanish, the spelling "Ha~ienda" was decided on for the club because the
cedilla makes the "~i" resemble "51", which was the club's catalogue number.
  4. A wide range of musical acts appeared at the club. One of the earliest was the
German band Liaisons Dangereuses, which played there on 7 July 1982. The Smiths
performed there three times in 1983. It served as a venue for Madonna on her first
performance in the United Kingdom, on 27 January 1984. She was invited to appear as
part of a one-off, live television broadcast by a British music programme called The
Tube. Madonna performed "Holiday" whilst at The Ha<;ienda and the performance was
described as one that "mesmerised the crowd".
  5. In 1986, it became one of the first British clubs to start playing the emerging
House Music, with DJs playing every Friday and Saturday night. These DJ nights
quickly became legendary and helped to turn around the reputation and fortunes
of The Ha~ienda, which went from making a consistent loss to being full every
night of the week by early 1987.

7.Following many years standing empty, the club was purchased by a housing
company. They chose to demolish the nightclub, and reuse the site for the
construction of domestic flats. The iconic name was kept for the new development.
Many of the original fixtures and fittings from inside the club were sold in an
