                                   READING AND WRITING
I.     OBJECTIVES: At the end of this lesson, the students are expected to:
         a) Differentiate critical reading and simple reading.
         b) Explain critical reading as looking for ways of thinking.
       A. Content Standard
          The learners understand the relationship of a written text and the context in which it
          has developed.
       B. Performance Standard
          Writes a 1000-word critique of a selected text on the basis of its claims, context,
          and properties as a written material.
       C. MELC
           Explain critical reading as looking for ways of thinking. (EN11/12RWS-IIIij-5)

MOTIVATION:
             The students will watch a video about critical reading.
        B. Lesson Proper
ACTIVITY (DO):
Activity 1: Think, Pair and Share
DIRECTIONS: Through the messenger, the learners will try to analyze each meaning and
share their ideas in group chat.
ANALYSIS (THINK)
Activity 2: Reflect Me!
   1. Have you ever tried to think critically?
   2. What is the importance of critical reading?
   3. What do you prefer, to read critically or just simple reading?
ABSTRACTION
Activity 3: Teacher’s Explanation and Student Activity
   1. The teacher will be going to define and explain critical reading and simple reading.
   2. The teacher will show some scenario of reading.
   3. The teacher will discuss the importance of critical reading.
APPLICATION
Activity 4: “Differentiate me!”
The learners will make their own Venn Diagram explaining the difference and similarities of
critical and simple reading.
IV.    EVALUATION
       Essay: What is the importance of critical reading in your academic life and looking as
       ways of learning.
V.     ASSIGNMENT
       In preparation for next lesson, search about the claims.
