Uses in sentences

How to intensify comparative adjectives.

Just place the following words before comparative adjectives.

● Much This year is much hotter than last year.

● A lot It seems that your experiences are a lot greater than others.

● Far Although they are twins, Patty looks far smaller than Natty.

● A little Personally, the soup should be a little spicier.

● Slightly My new partner is slightly stricter than Mr. Richard.


Comparative with “to”

● Inferior to ________________________

Your qualifications are still inferior to other applicants.

● Superior to ________________________

The new software that has been recently developed is superior to the old one.

● Junior to ________________________

Actually, Martinez is junior to me by two years.

● Prior to ________________________

You have only a couple of weeks prior to the day of the selection.

Remark: “anterior” and “posterior” are mostly used as medical terms.
