ABOUT THIS TEMPLATE
Use this workbook to experiment with PivotTable reports.
Create a sample PivotTable report using sample data from Source Data worksheet and report
template in PivotTable Structure worksheet.
The sample list is created in Sample PivotTable worksheet and it can be sorted by any category or
item.
You can also use slicers to filter data. To add slicer to a PivotTable, select INSERT SLICER in the
FILTER group on ANALYZE ribbon under PIVOTTABLE TOOLS.
PivotTable reports are one of the best Excel tools for extracting significance from a large, detailed
data set. The data is organized in list format, similar to how a query returns database records: each
column contains similar data, the columns have headings in the first row, and the list is not
interrupted by any blank rows or columns.
Note:
Additional instructions have been provided in cells A1, A2 and A4 in both the SOURCE DATA and
PIVOTTABLE STRUCTURE worksheets and in cells A1, A2, A4 and A12 of the SAMPLE PIVOT
TABLE worksheet. This text has been intentionally hidden. To remove text, select column A or cell
A1, then select DELETE. To unhide text, select column A or cell A1, then change font color.
To learn more about table, press SHIFT and then F10 within a table, select the TABLE option, and
then select ALTERNATIVE TEXT. For PivotTables, press SHIFT and then F10 within a table, select
PIVOTTABLE OPTIONS, and then select ALT TEXT tab.
