REFLECTION ON MID-YEAR IN-SERVICE TRAINING

The Mid-Year In-Service Training, conducted from January 24-26 and January
29-30, 2024, marked a significant point in my professional development as an
educator. Across the five-day duration, I actively participated in sessions that
expanded my comprehension and refined my teaching methodologies.
Commencing with the first day, the seminar focused on the integration of
technology into classroom activities especially the use of Microsoft 365. I acquired
practical insights into utilizing digital tools to engage students, foster collaboration,
and streamline administrative tasks. Engaging in hands-on sessions enabled me to
explore interactive platforms and develop tools to enhance efficiency.
The second day focuses into the analysis of assessment data, equipping me
with the skills to assess item difficulty and interpret test results effectively. This
newfound knowledge will enhance my ability to create more accurate assessments,
thereby measuring student understanding more precisely.
Day three highlighted child protection, underscoring the crucial importance of
cultivating a safe environment for students. This was presented by Teacher Joyna
Teves, T-II of Senior High School Department. The training reiterated the school's child
protection policy and empowered me to identify and address potential issues. The
latter part of the day centered around action research and innovation, instilling in me
a renewed commitment to continuously reflect on and enhance my teaching practices.
On day four, Sir Gelmer Espanola, Principal 1 of Tan-awan National High School
explains the objective of Catch-Up Fridays, a designated time for students to review
and reinforce their learning. This initiative aims to cater to individual learning needs,
promoting a personalized educational experience. The final day involved a
comprehensive review of mid-year performance, with reflective discussions and peer
feedback providing valuable insights into my teaching strengths and areas for growth.
Looking back, the training proved transformative, shaping my teaching
philosophy significantly. Armed with fresh knowledge and skills, I am enthusiastic
about implementing these learnings in my classroom, fostering a more dynamic and
student-centered learning environment.
