RTR Repair Procedure

This document provides a lamination procedure for repairing RTR pipe joints that are 4 inches in diameter and used for sea water and other drainage systems. The procedure involves cutting out damaged sections of pipe and replacing with new sections that are aligned and prepared on the joints. LAMINATION PROCEDURE ON RTR PIPE JOINTS

Introduction: This method statement defines the Repair procedure for RTR pipe 4diameter drain line on sea water and other systems. Procedure: Materials

Resin ( Epoxy resin ) Hardener ( IPD-Isophoronediamine) Boat tape ( fiber glass) Wooven Roving ( glass ) RP- 48 ( Adhesive )

Tools 3felt roller and or 3 bristle brush. 1 x 3 small air removal roller. 4 angle grinder m/c. 36grade grinding disc. Heating Blanket Flapper wheel sander Pipe wrap

Pipe cutting: Cut out the section of pipe which leaks/ damage make sure cut are square, Dry the pipe ends and cut new length of pipe to the same length ,Align the pipe joints in both ends circumferentially. Preparation for lamination on joints

The lamination length shall always be 120mm mark length and proceed end preparation.

Adhesive Fit layer

Prepare the adhesive mixture accordingly to the procedure coat the ends with adhesive in order to protect them against penetration. Coat the external square of the pipe end approximately 100 mm width wet out boat tape with adhesive and apply a minimum 3 layers circumferentially into the jointed pipe ends, curing before proceeding.

Lamination procedure:

Prepare the resin mixture using the correct mixing ratio 4:1. During wrapping process tension must be applies so that resin under the layer laid could be pressed out.

Curing & finishing: using heating blankets to cure the butt and wrap joint laminate.
