Speaking Part 1: Home
In the next three speaking lessons I’ll be sharing my answers to the ‘home’
questions that I listed in last week’s lesson.
Let’s start with part 1. As usual, my aim is to give short, direct answers. We’re
trying to demonstrate fluency in part 1, so there’s no need to show off in terms
of vocabulary or grammar.
1. Do you live in a house or a flat?
I live in a semi-detached house with three bedrooms and a small garden.
2. What’s your favourite room in your home? Why?
My favourite room is the kitchen because it looks out onto the back garden, and
it’s on the side of the house that catches the afternoon sun.
3. What would you like to change about your home? Why?
Well, it would be nice if it were a detached house so that we could have
windows on the wall that we currently share with our neighbors.
4. Would you like to move house in the future?
Maybe. I’m perfectly happy with my current house, so I have no immediate
plans to move. However, if I had enough money, I might be tempted to move to
a nicer location, perhaps near a beach or something like that.
