1. GENERAL PROVISIONS
2.1. The capitals of Latin alphabet, Arabic numerals, and also symbols given in
table 1 (qualifying characters) shall be used to develop designations.
Table 1
Type of conventional designation Categorizing Note

1. Top level designation—a device =
2. Top level designation—a functional
group ≠ # is allowed
3. Design designation +
4. Designation of element (positional –
designation)
5. Designation of electrical contact :
6. Address designation () The designation shall
be in parentheses
The symbols of «0» and «1» shall be used and read, respectively, as digits
«zero» and «unit», unless they are used in definitely alphabetic combinations when
forming the designations of devices or functional groups, if this does not result in
misunderstanding of designations.
--`,`,,,,,,,``,,,`,``,,,,,``-`-`,,`,,`,`,,`---
2.2. S t r u c t u r e o f d e s i g n a t i o n s
2.2.1. The conventional alphanumerical designation shall be a sequence of
characters, digits and symbols in one line with no gaps, while their quantity in the
designation is not established.
2.2.2. The adjacent groups of symbols in separate designations, which have
their own sense, shall be separated by:
alternation of characters and digits (for example, KC25, K2, 25KC, 2K);
dot, if the groups consist only of characters or only of digits (for example,
K.C.A, 2.25).
In designation, it is allowed to separate the independent semantic groups
consisting of characters and digits (for example, 01.A1.1312; 01.A.113.12) by dots.
2.2.3. It is allowed to record the digital part, which has the sense of ordinal
number, with the same amount of digits, where empty higher digits are filled with
zeroes, for example, A01, A02, ..., A25, ..., A99.
2.2.4. The compound designation shall be formed by sequential record of
designations of different types. A designation, which is a part of compound
designation, shall be recorded using the qualifying characters in accordance with
table 1.
The structure of compound conventional alphanumerical designation in
generalized form is given in figure 1.
Figure 1.
--`,`,,,,,,,``,,,`,``,,,,,``-`-`,,`,,`,`,,`---
2.2.5. The compound designation shall give integrated information about the
part of object, whose designation is the last. Quantity of designations, which form the
compound designation, is not established.
--`,`,,,,,,,``,,,`,``,,,,,``-`-`,,`,,`,`,,`---
2.2.6. The designations of higher level (device or functional group) and design
designation indicate the functional or design inclusion of the given part of object in
the object parts of corresponding types. The designations of these types shall be
recorded in the order of inclusion, for example, ≠T1=A2–R5 means that resistor R5
is included in the structure of device A2, which is included in functional group T1.
The design arrangement of each functional part can be indicated by subsequent use of
design designation, for example, +5.24=A2+B4–R5 means that resistor R5 is located
in cell B4 and is included in device A2, which is located on frame 24 in rack 5.
2.2.7. Before designation of device, functional group or element, which stands
in the beginning of compound designation, it is allowed to not indicate the
corresponding qualifying character, if this will not result in misunderstanding of
designations. For example, K1:2 is the second contact of relay K1.
It is also allowed to not indicate the qualifying character in the record of
designations of simple structure, if the type of designation is unambiguously
established in the documentation. For example, in the table of connections, which
replaces the connection diagram (diagram 301), in column «Design designation», the
designations may be shown without sign «+».
2.2.8. The top level designation.
Designations of devices or functional groups shall be constructed from a
combination of letters and/or numerals.
To designate devices, the following shall be used:
designation of the device type assigned to it in the documentation, based on
which it is applied;
alphanumerical designation, which begins with character “A” assigned to the
device on the diagram of the object.
For example, =A23, =AC16.
The digital designation of functional groups is allowed; in this case, a
designation shall be recorded with qualifying character, for example, ≠27.
2.2.9. The designation of design arrangement (design designation).
This designation is intended to put diagrams or other documents in
correspondence with design of object. The designation shall be constructed so that
location of any part of object in the design can be indicated unambiguously. The
designations shall be constructed from a combination of characters and digits.

2.2.12. The letter codes of element types are given in table 1 of mandatory
Appendix 1. The parts of object (elements) are divided by types into groups, which
are designated by one character. To refine the element type, it is allowed to use two–
letter and multi–letter codes. An element of the given type may be designated with
one letter (the general code of element type) or two letters (the code of the given
element). When two–letter or multi–letter codes are used, the first letter shall
correspond to the group of types, to which the element belongs. Examples of two–
--`,`,,,,,,,``,,,`,``,,,,,``-`-`,,`,,`,`,,`---
the address of the other part of object (or its picture), with which this part of
object (or its picture) mates.
All parts of this address designation shall be recorded in the specified order
and separated from each other by dot. Character L shall be put before the sheet
number. When it is necessary to specify mating with several sheets of document,
--`,`,,,,,,,``,,,`,``,,,,,``-`-`,,`,,`,`,,`---
their numbers shall be separated by commas or (in case of several leafs running) dots.
For example, (3.L01,03) is diagram 3, the first and third leafs ;
(3.L01... 06) is diagram 3, sheets first through sixth;
(3.L02/15A) is diagram 3, the second sheet, zone 15A.
If designation of a component part, a design designation, etc., is used as the
third part of address designation, then this part shall be recorded with the
corresponding qualifying character.
For example, (3.L6. + 15 : 2) means the second contact is located on place
(position) 15 and is shown in diagram 3, on the sixth sheet.
ХР1 (=A3) means that the given element (the male part ХР1) is to be
connected with device A3.
In address designation, it is allowed to not specify any of its constituent parts.
2.2.16. In address designation, it is allowed to specify the place in the
document, where the picture or description of the given part of object is located. In
this case, the first character recorded inside the brackets shall be letter A separated
from the rest of address designation by dot.
For example, (A.3.L01/15A) means that the given element is located in
diagram 3, on the first sheet, in zone 15A.
