PIBPSC2023LR02 – Detailed Solutions

Directions Q (1 - 5): In each of the questions below are given three statements
followed by conclusions numbered I, and II. You have to the take given
statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly
known facts. Read all the conclusions and then decide which of the given
conclusion logically follows from the given statements disregarding commonly
known facts.

1. Statements: I. Only a few Guns are Firearms

II. No Firearm is Pistol

III. All Pistol are Rifle

Conclusions: I. Some Rifle can never be Firearm

II. All Rifle can be Gun

(A) Only Conclusion I follows
(B) Only Conclusion II follows
(C) Either Conclusion I or Conclusion II follows
(D) Neither Conclusion I nor Conclusion II follows
(E) Both Conclusions I and II follow
Answer: (E) Both Conclusions I and II follow
Explanation:
The Venn Diagram (Statement Diagram) for the given statements is as shown
below,

Conclusion I: As we have No Firearm as Postol then the Rifle which is interacted

with the Pistol can never be Firearm.
Therefore, Conclusion I is false.

II: As we are not having any negative relationship between Gun and Rifle we
can take all the Rifle inside Gun as a possibility as shown below,
Therefore, Conclusion II follows.
So, both conclusions I and II follows.
Hence, answer option (E) is correct.

2. Statements: I. All Mats are Craft

II. Only a few Jets are Craft

III. Some Craft is Art

Conclusions: I. Only Jets are Art is a possibility

II. Some Mats are Jet

(A) Only Conclusion I follows
(B) Only Conclusion II follows
(C) Either Conclusion I or Conclusion II follows
(D) Neither Conclusion I nor Conclusion II follows
(E) Both Conclusions I and II follow
Answer: (A) Only Conclusion I follows
Explanation:
The Venn Diagram (Statement Diagram) for the given statements is as shown
below,
Conclusion I: As we have some

relation between Art and Jet and we can take All art inside Jet as a possibility
and also Art is not interacting with entity other than Jet. The possibility diagram
is as shown below,

Therefore, Conclusion I is true.

Conclusion II: As we are not having positive relationship between Mat and Jet
so that say some relation definitely.
So, Only, Conclusion II false.
Hence, answer option (A) is correct.

3. Statements: I. Only Elephant is Calf

II. Some Elephant is Black

III. All Black is Colour

Conclusions: I. All Elephant can be Black

II. Some Colour can be Calf

(A) Only Conclusion I follows
(B) Only Conclusion II follows
(C) Either Conclusion I or Conclusion II follows
(D) Neither Conclusion I nor Conclusion II follows
(E) Both Conclusions I and II follow
Answer: (D) Neither Conclusion I nor Conclusion II follows
Explanation:

The Venn Diagram

(Statement Diagram) for the given statements is as shown below,

Conclusion I: As we have Calf inside Elephant and Calf only interacts with
Elephant. So, we can not take all Elephant inside Black.
Therefore, Conclusion I is False.
Conclusion II: As we have Only Elephant is Calf so that Calf only interacts with
Elephant.
Therefore, Only, Conclusion II false.
So, Neither Conclusion I nor Conclusion II follows.
Hence, answer option (D) is correct.
4. Statements: I. All Tomatoes are Red

II. Some Red is Chilli

III. No Chilli is Onion

Conclusions: I. Some Tomato are Chilli

II. Some Red is not Onion

(A) Only Conclusion I follows
(B) Only Conclusion II follows
(C) Either Conclusion I or Conclusion II follows
(D) Neither Conclusion I nor Conclusion II follows
(E) Both Conclusions I and II follow
Answer: (B) Only conclusion II follows
Explanation:

he

Venn Diagram (Statement Diagram) for the given statements is as shown below,

Conclusion I: As we are not having any relationship between Tomato and Chili
so that we cannot say any positive or negative relation as true definitely.
Therefore, Conclusion I is false.
