⍟ Writing :- the process of inscribing thoughts, ideas, or information
through the use of written symbols, typically letters & words, to
communicate effectively across time & space.
- As well as human evolution, writing evolved from :-
Cave drawings ⇨ Ancient manuscripts ⇨ Typewriting ⇨ Penmanship ⇨ Digital level
■ Importance of Writing :- writing is essential in many areas of life,
as it plays a vital role in communication & personal expression. Its
importance includes :-
• Communication - clearly sharing thoughts & ideas.
• Expression - articulating emotions & perspectives.
• Record Keeping - preserving knowledge & history.
• Critical Thinking - enhancing analysis & organization.
• Academic Success - important for presenting understanding.
• Connection - fostering understanding between people.
▪ The importance of writing includes both traditional & modern
contexts, reflecting its lasting relevance in communication, expression,
and culture.
❖ Types of Writing :- writing comes in many forms, and they are :-
◇ Expository Writing - explains/informs about a topic.
◇ Narrative Writing - tells a story or recounts events.
◇ Descriptive Writing - uses sensory details to create vivid images.
◇ Persuasive Writing - aims to convince the reader of a viewpoint.
◇ Creative Writing - focuses on artistic expression & imagination.
◇ Academic Writing - is formal for educational purposes.
■ Writing Process :- the main steps for writing are :-
1- Prewriting - brainstorm ideas & organize thoughts.
2- Drafting - write the initial version without focusing on perfection.
3- Revising - review & improve content & structure.
4- Editing - correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors.
5- Publishing - prepare the final version for submission/presentation.
