About zone: In the world there are 60 longitudinal projection zones numbered from 1 to 60 starting at 180°W and
ending to 180°E .Each of these zones is 6 degrees wide, apart from a few exceptions around Norway and Svalbard.
According to this distribution Tanzania is falling in 35, 36 and 37 longitudinal projection zones. Within Each
Longitudinal zone the Transverse Mercator projection is used to give coordinates (i.e. Eastings and Northings in
meters).
Easting UTM coordinate: Easting coordinate of a point is measured from the false origin 500,000 meters to the west
Lake Nya
of the central meridian of UTM zone. Within a zone; Easting Values increase toward East and decrease toward West.
Northing UTM Coordinates: Northing value in northern hemisphere specifies the number of meters a point is located
north of the equator (defined as 0 meter) . The northing of a point South of the equator is equal to 10,000,000 meters
sa
minus its distance from the equator. In both northern and Southern h emisphere, Northing values increase from South to
North.
