Introduction
Research Question:
Is the world drying up? Accept/Reject using evidence
Answer
Yes, the world is drying up because water is scarce, and we cannot
survive without it. The main reasons for the world drying up are
the Growth in human population, wastage of clean water, if there is
water it is dirty/polluted, which means it’s not usable, and climate
change can also be one of its reasons, as it can cause droughts. There is
proof which shows that many rivers and lakes are drying up like the
Yellow River in China and the Nile River in Africa. If the world is drying
up it is not suitable for humans as it is destroying their lives, and they
don’t have water to feed their families, households, etc. All these things
affect millions of trillions of people who depend on water.
Key Questions
1)Is there a water crisis in the world today? Describe atleast 2 examples.
2)Pick a historical event where water crisis impacted the cause of
Civilization. Explain in detail.
3)How did the Ancient Civilization adapt to the water crisis? What was
the impact of the crisis?
4)How do you think the modern civilization of today cater to this crisis?
1) Water Crisis
Yes, I think there is a water crisis in the world as water is scarce for
us. We need water for our essential use. For example; cleaning, washing
dishes, cooking, drinking, bathing, etc. Many or some rivers worldwide
are drying up because of water scarcity. Let’s explore some rivers that
are drying up! First, the Euphrates-Tigris River is drying up due to
climate change. Second, the Amazon River (the world’s largest river) is
drying up due to deforestation and climate change.

2) Impact of water

crisis in the past

The Sumerian civilization fell around 2000 BCE due to serious water
problems. They lived in Mesopotamia, depending on the Tigris and
Euphrates rivers for farming. Over time, too much irrigation made the
soil salty, which damaged their crops. Droughts also reduced the water
in the rivers, making it hard to grow food. As food became scarce, city-
states fought over resources. This fighting weakened the civilization,
making them unsafe for outside attacks. Ultimately, these water issues
led to the fall of the Sumerian civilization, showing how a lack of water
can seriously harm a society.

3) How people
adapted to water
crisis in the past
Ancient civilizations tried to adapt to water crises in several ways. For
example, they built canals and irrigation systems to help move water to
their fields and control how much water they used. Some groups
changed their farming methods, like planting different crops that
needed less water. They also stored water in tanks for when water was
scarce. However, many civilizations still faced big problems. The water
crisis led to food shortages, fights over water resources, and even the
falling of some societies, showing how important water is for our lives.
4) Dealing with
water crisis in the
modern era
Many places use technology to make sure there is enough clean water,
like building dams and barrages and using pipes to send water to where
it's needed. People also recycle water and use systems to collect
rainwater. In agriculture, farmers use local irrigation plants, which
deliver water directly to plants, so they use less. Giving a reminder
about saving water is also important, so many communities encourage
everyone to use water as needed. These efforts help to prevent water
shortages and ensure that everyone has access to this vital resource.
Conclusion
I think this water crisis challenge is hard to make it improved but we can
try to make it easier, so everyone can achieve their goal of achieving
this water crisis challenge. It is also a big challenge for ancient and
modern civilizations as they also have to take care of this. As we read
previously water scarcity is leading to:
.Food shortages
.Droughts
.Conflicts
.Ending/finishing of societies
We should introduce a meeting in every society in which we can discuss
what can we do to stop the leakage of pipes etc.
