The course Objectives are as follows:
1. To educate the students about communication and to make them familiar
with business and general communication and feedback.
2. To enable the students to channelize the way they communicate by
Course enhancing their knowledge about verbal and Nonverbal communication.
Objectives 3. To train the students to develop skills on how to overcome the barriers of
communication through transactional analysis process.
4. To describe the importance of SWOT analysis.
5. To give depth information about personalities.
6. To motivate students to set proper goals to become successful
UNIT- I: Identifying Common errors in writing Vocabulary building
[9 hours]
Articles, Subject-Verb Agreement, Prepositions, Active and Passive Voice,
Reported Speech: Direct and Indirect, Sentence Structure, Acquaintance with
prefixes and suffixes from foreign languages in English to form derivatives,
synonyms, and antonyms.
UNIT – II: Communication [9 hours]
Introduction Communication to Communication: Introduction, Meaning and
Significance, Process and Channels of Communication, Oral and Written
Communication, 7 c’s of Communication, Barriers to Communication and Ways
to overcome them, Importance of Principles for Effective Communication.

Content UNIT – III: Reading Comprehension [9 hours]
Meaning and definition of Reading Comprehension, SQ3R method for reading,
types of reading (up -ward, down word and horizontal etc) Reading
Comprehension: Intensive reading skills, rapid reading and Effective reading.
UNIT –IV:Developing Writing Skills [9 hours]
Planning, Drafting and Editing, Precise Writing, Précis, Report Writing:
Features of writing a good Report, Structure of a Formal Report, Report of
Trouble, Laboratory Report, and Progress Report.
UNIT-V:Business Correspondence [9 hours]
Importance of Business Letters, Parts and Layout; Application, meaning of
Quotation, Calling/ Sending Quotation, Order, Complaint, E-mail and
Tender.
