Book selection from library shelves is a critical part of the learning and research process for

senior high school students in University of Perpetual Help System DALTA – Las Piñas. As
stated by Fleming (2019), if the library books are organized by a certain type of book
arrangement method, it would be easier for students to find books they like. This could make
them feel more confident in choosing their own books, which might encourage them to read
more often. A book arrangement method is a type of organization system that has particular
features such as criteria that are used for arranging and specific method used for application.
This study investigates how senior high school students in three libraries of the University of
Perpetual Help System DALTA – Las Piñas Campus respond to different arrangements of
books at the library that impact on their reading comprehension and interest towards book
selection with regard to strategies they apply when reading and gathering information as well as
overall research values. The research aimed to find out what book arrangement strategies are
employed in the three libraries of University of Perpetual Help System DALTA – Las Piñas
Campus and it will also take into consideration how these arrangements affect the tactics
students employ to find information and conduct searches.
