Christopher Columbus was a navigator, cartographer,
admiral, viceroy and governor general of the West
Indies in the service of the Crown of Castile. born in
the Republic of Genoa, on October 31, 1451
Colón acquired a self-taught education. He learned the
classical languages, which allowed him to read
ancient geographical treatises and understand the
sphericity of the Earth.
On October 12, 1492, Columbus arrived at the island

explorer to reach America, he is considered the discoverer of the New World for
Europe.
He made four voyages to the Indies and charted a round trip route across the

in the workshop of the Florentine painter Andrea del
Verrocchio. During those years, he developed his
curiosity and skills in multiple disciplines.
He made several artistic and scientific contributions,
his paintings such as: The Mona Lisa, The Last Supper,
The Virgin of the Rocks
He developed advanced ideas for his time, such as the helicopter, the battle tank,
the submarine and the automobile.
He made discoveries in areas such as anatomy, civil engineering, optics and
hydrodynamics.
Leonardo is considered a homo universalis, a Renaissance genius versed in all
areas of human knowledge.
Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (Alcalá de Henares,
September 29, 1547 - Madrid, April 22, 1616) was a
Spanish novelist, poet, playwright and soldier. He is
widely considered one of the greatest figures of Spanish
literature. Cervantes is best known for his masterpiece,
The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha.
Cervantes was born in Alcalá de Henares and was baptized
on October 9, 1547 in the parish of Santa María la Mayor.
Although the exact day of his birth is not certain, it is
believed to have been September 29.
His family faced financial problems, and in search of better fortune, they moved
to Valladolid and then to Madrid. Family instability affected his intellectual
formation, although it is believed that he attended the universities of Alcalá de
Henares and Salamanca.
He participated in the battle of Lepanto (1571) as a soldier in the company of Don
Diego de Urbina. In that battle, he received a wound in his left hand that became
stagnant.
After several years of military life in Italy, he was captured by Turkish pirates in
Algiers (1575) and sold into slavery.

Adolf Hitler was a German politician, military man


and dictator of Austrian origin. Hitler was born on
April 20, 1889 in Braunau am Inn, Upper Austria,
Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Hitler became imperial chancellor in 1933 and later
Führer (leader) of Germany. He established a
totalitarian regime under the National Socialist

Genghis Khan, also known as Temujin, was a Mongolian


soldier and conqueror who forged one of the largest empires in
history.
He was born approximately April 16, 1162 in the desolate
steppes of Mongolia, near the Onon River.
At 9-10 years old, Temujin lost his father and faced difficulties
with his family.

father began to desert, but Temujin demonstrated his bravery and leadership.

Late in his life, Aristotle founded the Lyceum in Athens,
where he taught until a year before his death.
At the Lyceum, he taught while walking, which gave rise to the name “peripatetic”
school.
Considered the father of logic and biology, Aristotle carried out the first
systematic research in this regard.
He has also been called the father of political science, zoology, embryology,
natural law, the scientific method, rhetoric, psychology, realism, criticism,
individualism, teleology, and meteorology.
He wrote nearly 200 works, of which only 31 have survived. His works cover an

Napoleon Bonaparte, also known as Napoleone


Buonaparte, was a French soldier and politician of Italian
origin, born in Corsica on August 15, 1769.
He was born in Ajaccio, capital of present-day Corsica,
into a large family of eight siblings.
During the French Revolutionary Wars, Napoleon rose to
fame as a brilliant military man.
He led successful campaigns in Italy and Egypt,
consolidating his prestige and power.
In 1804, he proclaimed himself Emperor of the French as
Napoleon I. He initiated liberal reforms and is considered
one of the greatest military commanders in history.
After a series of victories, he suffered defeats in Russia and Waterloo.
He was exiled to the island of Saint Helena, where he died on May 5, 1821.
Pythagoras, also known as Pythagoras of Samos,
was a Greek philosopher and mathematician born
around 570 BC. on the island of Samos.
Pythagoras founded the Pythagorean School, a
society that was interested in medicine,
cosmology, philosophy, ethics and politics.
His doctrine was considered secret, and disciples
had to wait several years before being presented to the master.
Although he left no written work, he is credited with the famous Pythagorean
theorem for right triangles.
Pythagoras formulated principles that influenced the development of mathematics
and rational philosophy in the West.
He is also credited with the idea of numerical harmony in music and astronomy.
Pythagoras died around 490 BC. in Metaponto.

George Washington, born on February 22, 1732 on the banks


of the Potomac River, in the current state of Virginia, was a
transcendental historical figure in the construction of the
United States of America.
George Washington belonged to a distinguished English
family that had arrived in America in the mid-17th century.
Although his education was rudimentary, Washington
became familiar with the tasks of the colonists and
developed an active temperament.

His leadership in the war and his role in building the new nation make him an
unforgettable historical figure.
