Safe Operating Procedure (Annexure 4)
2. SCOPE
This document defines the Safe Operating Procedure for [AMMONIA CHARGING].
4. KEY SAFETY HAZARDS AND “NO-GO” RISK CONTROLS
2.1 Hazard Control Strategy
2. Fall of cylinder when cylinder shifting is happening 1. Ammonia cylinders can be transferred
manually. through trolley.
4. Ammonia charging pipe burst while ammonia 1. Before opening Ammonia cylinder valve
charging if liquid in to system ensure that liquid valve provided in liquid
header is opened, ammonia leakage detector
to be installed and if require required PPE
should use.
2. Use certified charging line only.
6.
2.2 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Appropriate personal protective equipment must be provided and used. (Circle/Delete PPE required).
PPE must be appropriately selected, individually fitted and workers trained in correct use and maintenance:
Helmet Helmets must be worn on Footwear Safety footwear must be worn at
construction at all times. all times.
Ear plugs SCBA
2.3 Infrastructure, Tools and Equipment

2.4 Instrument Calibration
2.5 Hazardous Materials (Chemicals, Isotopes etc.)
2.6 In case of Emergency
In case of emergency call 120/124 or contact section supervisor. Go to safe assembly area in case of
emergency
6. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

l operator cylinder from there and shifting to storage area.
4. Operator Starting of compressors and vacuum the system and connecting cylinder to gas charging
valve provided to liquid line and gas charging and monitoring of liquid level in receiver.
8. PROCEDURE
4.1 Pre-operational Safety Check
2. Before connecting the charging line check the condition of charging line.
3. Before opening cylinder valve ensure that valve provided in liquid line has opened and do not open
the cylinder valve at a time slowly open the valve.
