The rainforest is a vibrant ecosystem teeming with life. It is characterized by dense
vegetation, high humidity, and a rich variety of animal species. In tropical rainforests, the
canopy formed by tall trees blocks much of the sunlight from reaching the forest floor,
creating a unique microclimate below. This environment supports an incredible diversity of
plants, from towering trees to delicate orchids that cling to branches.
One of the most fascinating features of the rainforest is its biodiversity. It is estimated that
rainforests are home to over half of the world's species, despite covering only about 6% of the
Earth's land surface. This incredible richness of life includes not only millions of different
species of insects, birds, mammals, and reptiles, but also countless species of plants and trees
that play crucial roles in the ecosystem.
However, rainforests face serious threats today, primarily due to human activities such as
deforestation and illegal logging. These activities contribute to habitat loss and
fragmentation, endangering countless species that depend on the rainforest for survival.
Efforts to conserve and protect these vital ecosystems are critical to preserving Earth's
biodiversity and ensuring the health of our planet.
