Dialysis is the process of removing excess water, solutes
and toxins from the blood.
Dialysis machine is used to provide an artificial
replacement for lost kidney function in people with renal
failure.

Dialysis is achieved by using a semipermeable membrane
(Dialyser) that separates molecules in solution by the
difference in their rates of diffusion through the membrane.

 Dialysis
Before the blood enters the dialyzer heparin is added to
prevent clotting. A syringe pump is used to deliver the heparin
at a precisely controlled rate. The blood then enters the dialyzer
where it passes across a largesurface-area inside dialyzer
semipermeable membrane with a dialysate solution on the
other side. A pressure gradient (different) is maintained across
the membrane to ensure the proper flow of compounds out of
the blood.

The dialyzer is composed of thousands of tiny hollow fibres.
The fiber wall acts as the semi-permeable membrane.
Blood flows through the fibres, dialysis solution flows around
the outside of the fibres, and water and wastes move between
these two solutions. The cleansed blood is then returned via
