About the Author

Master Mantak Chia

Master Mantak Chia is the creator of the Universal

Healing Tao s ystem and the director of the Universal
Healing Tao and Tao Garden Heal th Spa & Resort in
the beautiful northern countryside of Thailand at the
foothills of the Himalayas.
Mantak Chia was born in Thailand to Chinese
parents in 1944. At six years old, he learn how to sit
and “still the mind”and studied Thai boxing. He was
then taught Tai Chi Chuan by Master Lu, who soon
introduced him to Aikido, Yoga and broader levels of
Tai Chi. When he was a student in Hong Kong, a
classmate introduced him to his first esoteric teacher.
Taoist Master Master Yi Eng (I Yun). At this point,
Master Chia began his studies of the Taoist way of
life in earnest. He learned the Microcosmic Orbit and,
through the practice of F usion of the Five Elements,
ho w to open the other Six Special Channels. As he
studied Inner Alchemy further, he learned the
Enlightenment of the Kan and Li, Sealing of the Five Senses, Congress of Heaven and
Earth and Reunion of Heaven and Man. It was Master Yi Eng who authorized Master Chia
to teach and heal. When Mantak Chia was in his ear ly twent ies he studied with Master
Meugi in Singapore, who taught him Kundal ini Yoga and Buddha Palm. He was soon able to
clear block ages to the flow of energy within his own body. He also learned to pass the l ife
force energy through his hands so that he could heal Master Meugi’s patients. He then
learned Chi Nei Tsang from Dr. Mui Yimwattana in Thailand. He later studied with Master
Cheng Yao-Lun who taught him the Shao-Lin Method of Internal P ower. He learned the
closely guarded secret of the organs, g lands and bone marrow exercise known as Bone
Marrow Nei Kung and the exercise known as Strengthening and Renewal of the Tendons.
Master Cheng Yao-Lun’s system combined Thai boxing and Kung Fu.
Master Chia also studied at this time with Master Pan Yu, whose system combined
Taoist, Buddhist and Zen teachings. Master Pan Yu also taught him about the exchange of
Yin and Yang power be tween men and women, and how to develop the Steel Body. To
understand the mechanisms behind healing energy better, Master Chia studied Western
anatomy and medical science f or two years.
In June 1990, in San Francisco, Master Chia was honored by the International Congress
of Chinese Medicine and Qi Gong as ”Qi Gong” Master of the Year.
In May 2012, in Toront o, Master Chia was honored again “Qi Gong Master of the Year”.
In February 2012 THE WATKINS REVIEW l isted Grand Master Mantak Chia as No. 18
on its list of the 100 most influent ial spiritual leaders and authors alive today. No wadays,
Master Chia is still in the list of the 100 most influential spiritual leaders.
Grand Master Mantak Chia has written and publ ished 49 Universal Healing Tao Books
and 50 DVDs. The books have been translated into 33 languages, and publish around the

have studied with, & describe your practice. The week is devoted to reviewing &
mastering the MicroCosmic Orbit, Six Heal ing Sounds, Cosmic Inner Smile, Chi
Se lf-Massage, 6 Directions, Iron Shirt Chi Kung I, Tai Chi Chi Kung I & Healing
Love. You are required to take these three additional weeks: Basic, Fusion I, Tan
Tien Chi Kung & Tao Yin & Fusion II-III, Tai Chi Chi Kung I. The addit ional weeks
will be used for practice & evaluation and possible certification of potential in-
structors. There is a $60 evaluation fee.

General Basic Retreat

No prerequisites: Taught by Master Chia & Senior Instructors (Instructor Certifi-

The Basic Retreat is a week-long training for beginners and intermediate level
practit ioners, and those desiring a review of first essentials. During this week, the
primary meditations will be studied: Cosmic Orbit & World Link Meditations,
Cosmic Sounds, Inner Smile, W isdom Chi Kung and Chi Organ Massage. This w eek
also has Iron Shirt Chi Kung I and Healing Lo ve.
Fusion I, Tan Tien Chi Kung and Tao Yin
Prerequisites: General Retreat (Instructor Certification and New Instructor Evolution)
The Fusion practice f ocuses on balancing negative and positive emotional energy
and channeling the earth and universal forces using the eight forces of the Pakua.
Negative energy is transformed and made to blend with positive energy which is
then fused into a pearl of pure life-force energy. This pearl is circulated in the
Microcosmic Orbit and is used to open channels. Tan Tien Chi Kung enhances your
abil ity to feel, develop, and store Chi. The mind becomes calm and relaxed while
maintaining a high energy level. When Chi is stored in the Tan Tien you develop
rooting and internal power. Tao Yin contains a wide variety of mo vements & breath-
ing techniques from ancient systems of spiritual development. It comes fr om the
heritage of the Immortal Tao.

Fusion II - III and Tai Chi Chi Kung I

Prerequisites: General Retreat. Instructor Cert ification and New Instructor Evolution.
The Fusion II Meditation grows & intensifies the Good Virtue Energies forming a Compassion Pearl in
the Creat ion Cycle using the organ colors. The student learns how to detoxify the organs and glands by
opening up the Thrust ing Channels; and protecting themselves f orming psychic Belt Channe ls drawing
in the Heavenly and Earthly forces. The Fusion III meditation opens the Greater Bridge & Regulator
Channe ls, Spinal Cord, Head, and Heart using the cutting and drill ing techniques cleaning out any energy

Cosmic Healing I is a practice of channeling pure Cosmic Chi for healing. Master Chia will teach how to channel

energy experience gives the students a feeling of energy buoyancy, recharging them with pure Cosmic Chi. Qualified
students will be evaluated and possibly certified to heal & teach others using these techniques. Cosmic Chi Kung
is to learn how to project Chi through the space in the cosmos, the space between your hands and to project Chi
throug h the space to your students. This practice will teach you how to ground the sick energy to the earth and

Week 5: Chi Nei Tsang I: Internal Organ Massage (Certification) No prerequisites
Taoist sages observed that humans often develop energy blockages in and around their internal organs that

ailments. By using Chi Nei Tsang I’s 40 techniques of navel and deep or gan ener gy massage you learn to release
