ENGAGE, MOLD, EXCEL: UNLEASHING POTENTIAL THROUGH
INTERACTIVE TEACHING
What is Interactive Teaching?
- To interact with students effectively in the active phase of teaching, the teaching styles
should involve a simple principle of creating without practical application. As sometimes
learners fail to comprehend the depths of the content which is to study in the classroom.
The Interactive Teaching Strategies is to improve students’ interest in the learning process
and make them active participants in the lessons and also strategies of teaching benefits
than simply achieving educational goals.
Using interactive teaching methods for teaching grammar can greatly enhance the
learning experience for students. Here are some reasons why interactive teaching is
important for teaching grammar:
Engagement
Interactive teaching methods actively involve students in the learning process, capturing
their attention and keeping them engaged. This active engagement helps students to stay
focused and interested in learning grammar concepts.
Understand and Retention
By actively participating in interactive activities such as games, group discussions, or role-
playing exercises, students are more likely to retain the grammar rules and concepts they
learn. The hands-on approach reinforces their understanding and helps them remember the
rules more effectively.
Motivation
Interactive teaching methods can boost students' motivation and confidence in learning
grammar. By making the learning process fun and engaging, students are more likely to feel
motivated to participate actively and take ownership of their learning.
Collaboration
Many interactive teaching activities involve collaboration among students, promoting
teamwork and communication skills. Working together on grammar exercises or projects
encourages peer-to-peer learning and allows students to learn from each other's strengths
and weaknesses.
Feedback and Correction
Engaging with students in real-time allows educators to give their feedbacks and correcting
some mistakes or even an error right away. Through interactive discussion about grammar,
educators can spot weaknesses for them to guide and improve student’s language skills.
It keeps learners motivated and lets them know you are recognizing their hard work and
their successes. Corrective feedback helps learners to improve their language skills, helps
to develop memory and attention to specific aspects of the language and lets learners know
where to focus their attention. It most commonly involves a teacher identifying mistakes and
giving immediate and accurate corrections supported by explanations and examples. Two
effective ways teacher correction and feedback can be used are through modelling and
highlighting to catch errors in the early stages before they are repeated by students.
What is the importance of giving feedback to students in teaching grammar?
Providing feedback means giving students an explanation of what they are doing correctly
and incorrectly, with the focus of the feedback on what the students is doing right. It is most
productive to a student's learning when they are provided with an explanation as to what is
accurate and inaccurate about their work.
Why is correcting errors and mistakes important in grammar teaching?
It is necessary because it informs the teachers about their learners' progress. And it is
beneficial because error correction also provides evidence of how a language is acquired
and what strategies the learners should employ to learn a new language.
Overall, incorporating interactive teaching methods into grammar instruction can make the
learning experience more enjoyable, effective, and memorable for students.
In a simplest sense, the goal of interactive methods to teach grammar is to foster lively
and engaging learning atmosphere in which students are actively involved while learning
and in result, applying grammar rules proficiently in their language use. By getting their
attention in accordance to their interest, the information tends to remain and apply as
learning is easier when it is learned in fun way.
